Eh? Without the Waterworld analogy then - I don't see any way, in my lifetime, for the quantity of LGBT representation in media to reach a point where straight representation could be considered threatened. Ain't gonna happen. Worrying about straight representation is on the level of worrying about us turning out to be too good at reversing climate change - we're still, as a whole, stampeding so fast the wrong way that us ending up having to deal with a Snowpiercer accidentally-froze-the-world scenario would probably still be a net positive result.

So apparently there has to be a sci-fi analogy, can't help it.
What about worrying about bs pc culture and this being part of that?

Pretty much the same answer. If we ever get to a point where 'pc culture' (which I feel in most cases can just be called "how about we make an effort to be less awful than we demonstrably have been so far?") is a genuine problem - to society as a whole, not just the privileged portion which feels threatened by the notion of not being privileged anymore - then we'll already have managed such a profound cultural shift that we'll probably be able to right our course with much less effort than it took to get there in the first place.

Coming back to the original topic though, if you feel She-Ra is some kind of threat to straight folks, I don't see us having a useful discussion about it.

The less priviliged part does not like your Spanish Etiquette. Brought to you by the crown prince of progressive thinking the New York Times.

Oh you are really wrong unless you can get completely dominate the Internet, erase art from before 2013 and books, take away guns from everyone...

If you guys managed to thug, shame and blackball with such efficiencey how is the Orange One the president.

Also you turned a previously freewheeling arts world and many other things into miserable progressive pressure cookers that could explode anytime under the weight of pc culture anytime.

I think pC culture is a threat to everyone i ncluding their fake and real believers, if there is pc culture going on here, it is bad for everyone.

Well... yeah, that's what I've been saying (apart from the hyperbole, and the gun bit, which doesn't really apply to Australia). It's satisfying to see some progress, but the idea that queer representation, or 'pc culture', or whatever, is actually going to be able to seriously challenge the status quo is so unlikely that worrying about it going too far is ridiculous. Certainly not in my lifetime.

This way of glorification of gayness is PC Culture and PC culture is dominant at the moment. Undeservedly so but it is dominant.

Since my view is "no it's not, not even close" we don't seem to have the common ground needed to keep discussing it. I'll go back to gushing about She-Ra with the others.

Quoting The New York Times... really, Slash? This is the same news outlet that thinks a rape victim wasn't innocent and deserved what happened to her and insisted a thriller/survival movie in which a regular joe is put in danger is this pussy-whipped man struggling to regain whatever tiny shred of "masculinity" he has left. Oh, and they subscribe to "collective guilt" nonsense. I wouldn't trust them with a ten-foot pole.
