Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home (Film)

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Kinda a strange law precedent there, though. There's a story in there somewhere about what caused it to be a thing. Why would someone voluntarily -- no, not voluntarily, actually demand -- to be accused of a crime some other officer/citizen is charged? I'm imagining some sort of Federation Law Wizard using it as a Clever Means to prove his client innocent.
I refer you to the case of "Spartacus vs Brian" for the details.

The one tribunal (Council?) judge does offer Spock a way out: he specifically says that Spock is not accused of the crime, but Spock responds that he "stands with [his] crewmates". You know, I'd absolutely watch a Star Trek legal drama.

I'd totally watch Law and Order: Federation. I want to see Tulix vs Janeway over being forcibly turned back into Tuvok and Neelix - she effectively murdered Tulix.

Yeah.

A lot of the accusations made against Janeway are, in my opinion, unfounded or at least ambiguous. But not that one. That was straight up first degree murder of a sapient being.

Also, you know, their is a lot of wasted potential in the Star Trek universe for stories focussed on things other than "Senior officers of a Starfleet vessel."

No, too similar.

Granted, all the main Star Wars films focus on the Jedi vs. Sith conflict, and particularly the Skywalker family, but Rogue One branched out a bit, and the EU has branched out a lot. Some of the side stories in The Clone Wars/Rebels too, as I recall.

Then again, as Scotty says as Relics, he never wanted to be a command officer, only an engineer- likely Spock was offered command of a ship but felt he was better off as Kirk's second in command.
Does this mean the Federation has a way to not halt the career progression of people at the level of their incompetence? My God, it really is a utopia!

Does anyone know what rank Chekhov had in Generations or McCoy in Encounter at Farpoint?

Chekov was a commander and McCoy an admiral.
