I dunno. I never worked for Bush Jr. directly, but I certainly worked around him a lot.

I've never seen anything to indicate that W is a bad man. We have tons of terrible people in politics here in Texas, but I've never met anyone who would put W in that category. He's not even a bad politician...he was quite an effective governor of Texas, and he certainly never abused the position for his own personal gain the way so many holders of that office have.

Don't get me wrong, he was a truly terrible President, (personally, I rank him significantly worse than Trump so far) but 99.99% of people on the planet would be terrible Presidents, so I don't think that's a very useful metric by which to label him a scumbag. Trump, by contrast, appears to be an awful person through and through.

I have nothing but respect for Bush Sr. He did a difficult job with as much grace as could be expected from anyone.

He was led by horrible advisors who took advantage of his stupidity to pocket money and run a corrupt administration. I don't doubt W was a decent human being, but he was a stupid playboy with a drug problem who never should have been President, and yet the corporate media sold him as "that guy you'd wanna have a beer with." More proof you really shouldn't trust the corporate-owned media news networks. They will lie to get the candidates they want put in power.

W. was an arrogant little man with a chip on his shoulder who started a war to one-up his daddy, and proceeded to torpedo our economy and international standing.

The apple fell pretty far from the tree.

Terrible president. But most people would be terrible Presidents. That's not a good measure of being a bad man.

Michelle Obama thinks kindly of him. Good enough for me. We don't have to worry about him being President again.

I haven't been on Facebook in a year. Since July, 2017.

Sure, but I don't think that whitewashing a shithead like the Shrub, just because his VP is an evil scumbag and his daddy was a decent man, is a good thing.

Who is suggesting we whitewash anything?

W. was an awful President. Nothing is going to change that legacy - even conservatives are coming to embrace it, and history will cement it. But you can be bad at your job without being a bad person. Carter was also a bad President, and he's probably one of the best people I can think of.

I suspect W. will go down as a cautionary tale about a man elevated beyond his ability. As opposed to say, Nixon or Trump, who will go down quite differently.

No, W was a terrible person through his actions as president with the blood of countless thousands on his hand. He was a grown-ass man with an apparently healthy brain, political experience and agency, and if he wasn't ready for the job he shouldn't have run.

There's a big difference between a corrupt president and Of Mice and Men's Lenny.
