The great 2020 election thread....
Re: The great 2020 election thread....
I sure hope the Dems go with someone who distances themselves from the "progressive" identity politics part of their party, or they will surely lose again.

They probably don't have to distance themselves from it...just not make it a central plank of their platform.
Trump is destroying Republican support in the suburbs. And Republicans didn't have much of a buffer to begin with. Trump won Wisconsin by 30000 votes. That's a razor's edge. It's impossible to overstate just how vulnerable he really is.
Which is why anyone on the Democratic side who harbors dreams of being President will be coming out in force for this primary. Interesting times.

I do know the idea of embracing Sanders and his brand of politics is poison. I saw this in 2016, and it's why Clinton rode the wave to victory. If he tries to run again, he'll lose. They need to back off from that, or we'll lose again. Many older voters I knew who are still around compare him to Trump, a greedy old con man.

She's not running again. Sanders might. He won't miss this opportunity to rake in loads and loads of cash and the spotlight!

We've had lots of movement on this in the last month.
Warren is in
Harris is in.
Castro is in.
Still waiting on Biden, Beto, and Booker.

FUCK YEAH. I'd love if Warren or Harris won. Harris is likely to carry her entire state of delegates. That's a lot of them. I'd honestly peg her as a shoe-in.

Careful now. Warren may not be as extreme as Bernie, but she is definitely in that wing of the DNC. In fact, you should be grateful Trump already discredited her. She's less likely to split the vote that way.

Warren would never 'split the vote.' She's left, but she's a loyal Democrat. She wouldn't challenge Hillary in 2016 (possibly to our detriment) and if she loses the primary in 2020, she'll bow out with grace.
She won't pull a Bernie.
