Whats up with casual racism in many of these reviews? I really enjoy most of his reviews, but the racism is getting a bit tiresome. Every time Chuck makes a comments on blacks or asians or something he yammers on about how not racist he is. In this video he prayed that he didn't think he saw a black or asian in some other TV show because that would be racist??? No one thinks that way. The fact that he thinks non-whites are so sensitive they would attack him for thinking he saw them in a different movie is unsettling. The reviews are much better when we cut out the racist parts.

1) Have you never seen the internet fires that can come from even the most innocent comment on race, sex or gender? Guarding yourself is the smart move.CrocodileMD wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 1:18 am Whats up with casual racism in many of these reviews? 2) He was worried because of the ''all asians and black people look alike'' thing and was relieved that he hadn't confused two people because of that. You completely missed what he was getting at.

Didn't see the review yet, but being self-conscious of racist allegations in general isn't a regard about non-whites, it's about aggressive progressives.CrocodileMD wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 1:18 amThe fact that he thinks non-whites are so sensitive they would attack him for thinking he saw them in a different movie is unsettling. Re: VOY: Someone To Watch Over Me
To explain: I see people, and I get this feeling like I've seen them before, so I search and *usually* I find out where I saw them (I'm bad with names but pretty good with faces), but occasionally I have never seen the person before. If that happens with someone whose race is stereotyped as "they all look the same" then it could imply racism, ergo, finding out that I *have* seen someone before would imply "not racist." The joke is about white people who think they're enlightened secretly fearing they're accidentally doing something racist.CrocodileMD wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 1:18 am Whats up with casual racism in many of these reviews? In the review he made a quip about Seven having a black-belt in ballroom dancing. That was related to something we saw on screen and funny.
The "all asians/blacks look alike" remark wasn't about anything on the screen, nor was it funny. I enjoy when Chuck inserts funny little stories that are only tangentially related to whats happening on screen- as long as they're funny or interesting. However when you stop the narrative to say "Just a quick reminder about how not-racist I am" it takes away from the flow of the work. It has also become very tedious to watch. It seems like every time he mentions a non-white character he has to remind everyone he's not racist. It's just groan inducing every time now.

Idunno I get the neurosis behind it.
It doesn't sound like an actual declaration, it is an actual musing.

You're still willfully missing the point. He's not assuring *us* he's not racist.

And the point is?
I also read his reply. His reply makes it seem much more reasonable. However, I did go back and watch the clip again and I didn't get the sense it was a commentary on overly sensitive white people or virtue signaling.
