You know how Ash is, at the end of the story, Ash but in the modified body of Voq?

OK. So basically Ash's mind is the one that remembers being raped by L'Rell, right? Has those flashbacks that give him traumatic episodes when he remembers her Klingorc tits?

OK. He goes off to do stuff with her at the end of the series, proverbially riding off into the sunset. And this is presented as a positive. Alex Kurtzman, in an interview, referred to the episode where this happens as "kind of our #metoo moment".

Alex Kurtzman is not a very smart man.
Maybe he thinks of it as trolling.

Politics and sex have NEVER mixed well with Trek as Chuck has noted repeatedly. The writers don't seem to be able to write it and the fans would rather they just got on with their trek through the stars.

As much as I disagree with you on STD Slash, you're right, this series can stand in line. ENT gave us the Trip Tucker rape episode and played it for laughs. And TOS gave us the episode where Evil Kirk attempts to rape Yeoman Rand - and then has Spock tell her that she probably enjoyed it. And I'm not making that up either for those of you reading this who have never watched the episode: during the end of episode joke/moral scene (which was a common trait of TOS) and with jolly music playing, Spock says the line: ''his counterpart had some interesting qualities wouldn't you say, Yeoman?'' followed by what can only be described as a fluster on her part. Oh, and this scene is after she apologised to Kirk for suspecting that he would rape her as opposed to him apologising to her for his counterparts actions. No wonder she left the ship.

Rand's actress left because she was groped by a studio exec and made a fuss about it, IIRC.

Sometimes Trek's handled gender and sexuality issues well; the J'nai episode on TNG was scripted fine, it's just that they should've got a man to play Riker's love interest like Frakes wanted. DS9 handled their "yes, Dax is pansexual and is kissing a woman" episode well thanks in part to Avery Brooks's standout direction and Ron Moore being a good writer.

But on the flip side, there's "Up the Long Ladder" and its warped message, "The Child" which is ripped off of a horrible Avengers story that's become memetically hated for being hot garbage, "Unexpected" which is like having your balls torn off slowly with white-hot needles and fed to you, anything to do with Risa which is like the DMV offices in Sussex County, New Jersey...

No, Trek doesn't handle sex itself well, and has a mixed record on gen-sex issues, but it all boils down to getting capable writing and directing.

Here's a way Star Trek Galaxy is going to suck, I can feel it coming. Aside from changing the Klingon and the Jem'Hadar's looks, making Worf look like the crappy modern Klingons... they're probably going to give Picard a Galaxy-class ship called the Enterprise-F or something, and it doesn't LOOK at all like a Galaxy-class ship. Probably will be similar to Abrams' melding of TOS Enterprise with the big-budget TOS movies Enterprise, which was pure crap. Probably will make it similar to the future Enterprise-D in "All Good Things..." or pretend the movies never happened and this is somehow the Enterprise-D still. GOD THIS NEW SERIES IS GOING TO BLOW...
