I've been keeping track of the rumors and info about TLJ and at present the film doesn't strike me as Risk-averse. What little we have seems to suggest that Luke is trying to find the history of the first Jedi Order, since it's Old Republic incarnation might've had a flaw that lead to it's down fall...a flaw he passed on (inadvertently) to Kylo Ren which is a contributing factor in Ren's fall. The idea that the Jedi Order itself might be flawed is going to annoy some fans.
Finn appears to be on some kind of 'Agent' character arc in that 'To Catch a Thief' was mentioned as the inspiration for his portion of the movie....and the first city we have seen him in looks like the kind of 'Rivera spot' that Bond would wreck a portion of during his adventures
Then there's talk of Finn infiltrating the First Order....as an officer
Rey's story is being kept real close to the vest but it sounds like She, Kylo and Luke might be spending some time together on Ach-to and it might not be a constant battle between them.
Bits and pieces of things really...but I don't expect anything concrete until after Celebration.

Their blackness is fairly irrelevant in Star Wars and will stay that way i hope. The Romulan Republic wrote:
Not what I was arguing.
My point is simply, as I said, that black people do not represent a single homogenous culture in either world.
How many alt righters are out there? What the fuck is the alt right? Diversity in casting is a primary press dispute. The Romulan Republic wrote:
That'd be the "Alt. Right" (when any attention is paid to women and minorities). And, in response, activists promoting the interests and rights of those groups.
You know, the primary social disputes of American politics.

Even if everyone was an US citizen, it's not that many people.Even if you assume 5 time as much as the petition signers care.
It's hard to measure when movie stars are dissapearing. The Romulan Republic wrote:
IA few praiseworthy exceptions do not invalidate an overall trend, which is that their are fewer (even proportionally) major minority stars.
Did they sign a petition or something? What makes you speculate millions? The Romulan Republic wrote:
Try "millions".
How the heck would women not be equal to man if they have the same legal rights? Talking about it's like in the 70s when Dirty harry got his female partner annoys me. A press hell bent on making a big social issue out of it annoys me. the talent making a giant issue out of it annoys me. What minorities who put together are a majority have i hated on? I complained about which movies? The Romulan Republic wrote:
In some ways, quite a lot. It'll make a difference to how some people treat you in the real world, certainly (more in some countries than others).
In a Star Wars film... it shouldn't matter, and that's the point. Part of what I like about Rey and Jyn is that they're treated as protagonists just like any other, without making a big deal (in-universe) out of their gender, or heavily sexualizing them. It subtly sends the message that women are equal to men, and can be heroes in this kind of film just as much as men can, without beating the audience over the head with the point.
For some reason, that seems to bother you. Why does it seem that having women and minorities on screen-who don't fill "traditional" roles is seen as offensive or annoying to you? I thought treating everyone the same, without making a big deal out of their race/gender, was what the "anti-political correctness" people always claimed they wanted? Or was that really just a smoke screen for "ignore the issues, and keep them in their place?"
Because (and I apologize if I've misunderstood you) it seems to me that if a film makes an issue out of a character's race or gender, you'll complain about that, and if it doesn't, then you'll say their's no reason to include a character from that race or gender, and one cannot help getting the impression that what you really want is for no female or minority characters or actors to be included unless they fit into narrow "traditional" roles.
What place are they kept? Walking around with the same legal rights as everyone else + AA?
Just write the best story you can and it shakes out how it does. What's wrong with that?
There is so little signnficant right wing press out there, that they did to themselves. If you look at some recent court cases the people see them as the enemy. not the whole press, but the most dominant press. juries feel that way.The Romulan Republic wrote:
I was alluding to the constant attacks (for decades, but escalating under Trump) by the Right on the media, with the aim of either pressuring media into conforming with their views in an attempt to avoid accusations of bias, or delegitimizing, in the mind of the public, any media that does not promote their views. It has created a toxic and increasingly authoritarian culture where the press is now publicly described as the enemy by the government.
Though I admit this is not really the topic of this thread, and apologize for the diversion.
The choping up of the movie left the Asian characters blind followers of the white women without motivation. No one in your circle will see this as problematic? I see it as problematic just because of the story reasons. A movie this long should give real motivation to characters of their gravity. The Romulan Republic wrote:
I don't quite understand your point here.
You base your speculation on what? The Romulan Republic wrote:
We'll see.
It had its flaws, certainly. But their is a contingent of the fan base that's predisposed to hate anything that isn't the OT (and then whine when they make a film with a plot following that of the OT).

I'll tell you WHY I'm inclined to believe them in this case.Agent Vinod wrote:Rate the legitimacy of the source on a scale of 1 to 10.Ordo wrote:Some more rumors: http://makingstarwars.net/2017/04/detai ... last-jedi/
1. These are the guys that managed to get their hands on the shooting script for TFA and thus spoiled the major sequences of the film months before it came out. Though I don't expect that to happen again since Lucasfilm has tightened it's security it does suggest that they have some access.
2. A while back they discussed a rumor that Finn would be dressing up as an FO officer possibly as part of a plan to bring down a star destroyer. The first part was proven true during a Sizzle reels for TLJ shown to investors...where one person mentioned Finn being dressed in such a manner.
3. Months backk they described a planet in the film as Mars with snow on it. Then they got this:
http://makingstarwars.net/2017/04/the-c ... new-world/The Last Jedi one of the new worlds is code named or possibly even called “Crait.” The world appears to be a giant salt flat with stretches of large black volcanic rocks. The black rocks look red because there is smoldering lava seeping out of them. It should be noted the setting isn’t like Mustafar from Revenge of the Sith with free-flowing lava. This is why early reports described it as “Mars with snow on it.” The lava is seeping out of the giant rock formations found scattered around the salt flat valleys in between the hot rocky terrain. It still isn’t clear if the white ground is salt or a light dusting of snow, but the white powdery substance collects around the banks of the settlement there and depending on who you talk to it’s snow or salt.
I have that visual guide and checked it myself...he's right there is a mentioned of a planet "Crait" in the background of one of the rebel pilots.I have been contacted by a few sources to let me know the spelling for the new planet is “Crait.” I was also told to check page 170 of Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide. So I did.
