How do you deal with Star Trek highballers?

Post by Yukaphile »

I am debating with an idiot who thinks the Enterprise can unironically blow up moons and planets with one shot of its weapons because it once, once moved a fragment of a neutron star using the tractor beams, and that with a single amped beam weapon, it could have taken out all 20 ships that led the attack on the Founders in the Battle of the Omarion Nebula. This is Star Trek wanking taken to an absurd degree. He also denies the "moon" in "Deja Q" was the size of Phobos or so. He's just stubbornly stupid.

Well if he is relaying accurate information about what it would take to move a fragment of a neutron star using the tractor beams, then you might be able to point to a contradicting scene in which tractor beams have demonstrably limited power. Then you could chalk it up to bad writing and refute the logic carrying over to Enterprise having the ability to blow up a moon.
..What mirror universe?

By not engaging in such arguments.

By doing something sensible and talking about Star Wars instead.
