I'm kind of at a loss as to why claiming to be a nihilist is such a striking thing.Slash Gallagher wrote: ↑Mon Dec 24, 2018 8:21 amHe did not say he is that for days or weeks, he did not say he was flirting with it...BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Dec 23, 2018 10:30 pm Look, speculation of nihilism doesn't mean that there's no consideration for more or less beneficial conditions. Obviously there's a psychological correlation (which I don't wish to expand consideration) that's all but inevitably going to come about through the subject matter and the resulting flavor it exhumes by one.
Nihilism in a purely metaphysical context is utterly complex, and it's not our job to do the intuitive math and audit his own speculation to determine if he's contradicting himself. We know there's a huge disconnect between reasonably righteous standards and society's ability to act accordingly. Obviously there's a lot of crap in the world. Obviously people should probably benefit more. The viewpoints don't really contradict each other but do influence polar and straining ideas that provoke both nihilistic outlooks and ideas on how to improve things (and with an existential consideration thereafter), which will suggest reformatting of the original condition to varying degrees when you consider collective implications.
I just don't really think it's beyond us to look at facts one by one.

Re: I'm back
Because life really has no meaning, does it? We all live, grow, have our own sins, just to varying degrees, we suffer, we have the same body functions, we're all tiny compared to the universe, and we die. Also generally speaking, I'm a misanthrope. I dislike humanity as a whole. Not individual people. But our species as a whole turns me off. We're awful to each other when you take into account the greater collective.

Re: I'm back
Their lives are more simple, so they have no idea how bad the world is. As "more evolved" animals, we have a duty to them and to the universe to do better, be better than we are, with our flaws and foibles. Fuck, do you expect someone like Trump or other rich assholes abusing their power to reflect upon the nature of the universe, wonder who we are, where we came from, and try and do good unto others? No, they're these hardcore conservative Christians who don't give a fuck about anybody. I do, yet there's just so much damn suffering in the world that's not getting better, conflict that's just not healing, people screaming at each other's throats without learning to get along, learn to love and embrace one another as brothers and sisters and lovers. It's sad. And it makes me angry, BUT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO. Why you dragging this up, anyway? The mods don't like when I discuss this, so why do you question my nihilistic views? I can think life is meaningless, that there's no point, and still care. Why do you think those two are mutually exclusive? Human beings, in the eyes of the universe, are just biological units. But perhaps we are more than that. But most people don't realize that enough, don't live up to their full potential for one another and themselves, me included. And that's sad, but again, I can't do anything about it.

Why do i have to live up to my full 100% potential? What bad happens if i don't?Yukaphile wrote: ↑Mon Dec 24, 2018 3:13 pm Their lives are more simple, so they have no idea how bad the world is. You don't have to live up to your full potential, and you don't have to help others, but you should at least do your own part not to be a dick to others in the way many people are, at least. That's something I feel a lot of people owe other human beings.
