Our Town (X-Files)

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Well, unless you consider the miniseries canon, which I don't want to, they were the good guys the whole time, finding a way to fight the alien invaders until they had a way to fight back. It's why Well Groomed Man was in the Syndicate. Their big problem is that the aliens were stringing them along for decades as well.

Of course, then you also get into the issues of why the aliens waited thousands of years to colonize our planet, why they couldn't wait a few hundred more after exterminating us.

You know I wonder if the aliens didn't delay because of all the random horrors. Human civilization they can deal with, but perhaps they are waiting because they were trying to get more information about the demons, vampires etc?

It would be hilarious if, like Chuck suggested, the aliens had to deal with Voodoo practicing Army Colonels, or the guy who made his home into the Brady House unleashing his telekinetic powers on the aliens, or the guy who was able to control the weather starts hitting UFOs with lightning. And that's just the rather normal human people.

Imagine if they had to deal with the Christmas ghost family, the fungus that slowly eats you while giving you hallucinations, the sentient office building, demon substitute teachers(I repeat myself), etc.

You know, David Duchovany might say, "Mulder is the worst FBI agent ever."

But when you go back and watch the show he and Scully capture multiple serial killers, including a guy who runs a Christmas theme roadside attraction that killed dozens of children. Each season they have probably closed more missing person cases with 1 monster of the week episode than a typical agent could net in their entire career. After the third or fourth cult getting shut down they would be handing Mulder entire teams of people to work under him.

You know, J. Michael Straczynski had an idea of what the conspiracy's real goals were:

I think you just thought up a superior version of Suicide Squad. Come on Fox, who wouldn't want to watch a movie where Bud Bundy uses mind powers to fight invading "grey" aliens! Hell that they could even work it into the ending to that shitty mini series!

This is a minor point, but on the consumption-of-human-flesh-to-grant-eternal-youth thing, I assumed it was a magical ritual rather than pseudo-science. After all, scientific procedures generally don't require a feathered mask and a bonfire.

Putting it like that, I would completely buy it if it turned out the aliens were on Earth to either destroy or contain all the crazy shit that happens here.

Honestly, here's how the X-Files miniseries should have really ended:

(Gibson Praise, the chess master and telepath, walks into his apartment, a bald man in a suit is staring out the window)
(The man turns around, it's Director Skinner)
Skinner: You think you're the only special one? Mulder and Scully have run into all sorts over the years. I want to talk to you about the X-Files Initiative.....

it stands to reason that if we've got crazy eldritch shit, they've got their own on whatever planet they come from. is that really an escalation we want to start? sounds like a quick road toward mutually assured damnation to me.

hell, i wouldn't be surprised if there weren't some sort of interstellar treaty against that sort of thing.
