Great. Hope Cory Brooker doesn't run. He's the only one who might steal the nomination away from her.

Steal? I think you mean to say "he might legitimately win more votes, get more delegates, and win the party nomination".
In fact, I seem to recall there are a lot of people currently running and many more considering running. "Stealing" implies that it is already rightfully hers already, that she doesn't need to earn it.

Not saying he wouldn't deserve it, but misogyny might play a role, people thinking it's too dangerous to nominate a woman given how sexist this country is (I've seen that argument), so play it safe with another black man. When by all rights it should be a woman. We've waited long enough for a female President, and she's more than qualified. 200 years. How much longer must we wait?

Thinking she should be president because she is a woman is just as sexist as thinking she shouldn't be president because she is a woman.
You want others to judge people on their own merit and not based upon their gender, yet you specifically say that "by all rights it should be a woman". You accuse others of sexism and then literally throw out an extremely sexist line.
If you want a female president, cool. If you want to accuse others of sexism while displaying it yourself, that's not cool. That's being a hypocrite.

I'm basically fine with anyone under 60 and not Tulsi Gabbard winning the nomination.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 8:17 pm Not saying he wouldn't deserve it, but misogyny might play a role, people thinking it's too dangerous to nominate a woman given how sexist this country is (I've seen that argument), so play it safe with another black man. Well, that's you. I don't wanna wait anymore for a female President, and I don't wanna take the chance of a female VP slipping in, and then just "succeeds" the dude who either dies or resigns. That's not shattering the glass ceiling, like Obama did for the racial barrier on the White House - it's sneaking in through the window, and if that happened, I'd never vote again. Especially since any woman nominated AS Vice-President is logically qualified to succeed him, so therefore, he should not have the job, but she should. Since women have never held that office and one's gotta do so sometime, to end that form of discrimination. Like Affirmative Action. But that won't happen.

Stop being an idiot and once and for all decide: Do you want a woman in office because she has the skills and merits or do you want a woman in office because she's a woman. You can not have both.

Skills, obviously. But Clinton had the skills, and so does Kamala Harris and a few of the others running. And it speaks volumes to the fact the qualified, competent, intelligent woman lost to the dumb, misogynistic man who never held public office in his life because of the sexism of two conservative countries. I'm fine with a male-male ticket, don't get me wrong. But I abhor having a female Vice-President before women have properly been President, because it's more tokenism and more playing second best, which women have done too long for centuries. And then there's again a danger of the woman succeeding the man and not being elected on her own terms. I say any of the women in this race who are qualified automatically deserve the job more than any of the men, because we need to end the discrimination against a female President. That's my stance.
