The great 2020 election thread....
Re: The great 2020 election thread....
I just want a competent person as president that is going to do the job right as long as they do a good job I don't care if they are democrat, republican, male, female or even martian.

Re: The great 2020 election thread....
In an ideal world, that would be true. But besides one black dude, we haven't had a woman President before. It's all been 40 white guys. It is true most reasonable people know women can do the job. That then begs the question... why haven't voters chosen a woman to do it yet? That's why I'm very personally invested in seeing a woman this election ride to the Oval Office as President and not Vice-President. I want the top prize, even though Vice-President is just as important a job, but as I'd said, it's secondary and playing team to the boss, ie the President, and I just don't want women playing second fiddle to a man again. That's been done throughout history. I want a genuine female President to do the job properly and prove it can be done. And to shut down those assholes who mutter, "She'll have a hot flash and start a nuclear war." I have seen this.

They have, but you keep choosing to ignore it in order to keep your pre-concieved notions and complain like a petulant child that thinks it knows better than everyone, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary. And in case you missed it, Hillary had almost 66 million votes, while Trump had just under 63 million.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 12:24 am In an ideal world, that would be true. I don't expect it's going to explode your head, because you'll choose to ignore it and keep ranting about how terribly anti-women the system is, despite it specifcally not being setup for that purpose and yadda yadda yadda. Can't have actual nuance in your world, can you? No, all men are evil and people have only evil reasons for not doing exactly what you want them to do for the exact reasons you want them to have.
I clearly never blocked you, otherwise I would not be able to read what you wrote and I respond and don't ignore you, because I am challenging you and your pre-concieved notions. I take great joy in calling people out for their bullshit and I still hope I can get through all that shit in your head and set at least a few things right. If not for your benefit, then at least for the benefit of all the poor people who have to deal with your BS on a daily basis.
And if you really want a woman in office, then start talking to people as if they actually had legitimate reasons for their believes and convictions, instead of being a misogynist bunch of twats. Tell them why %female candidate% is the best candidate, by giving them actual and legitimate reasons beyond "She's a woman".

Re: The great 2020 election thread....
Yet she is not President. He is. A woman was denied the job, yet again. It went to the dumb, misogynistic man. I am still deeply hurt over that, and to have a female Vice-President shoved in my face would feel like, "You couldn't have a woman President four years ago or now? Well, here, take a consolation prize."
I didn't say all men were evil and you're falsely labeling me. But I do see a system of patriarchy and misogyny and it cuts me deeply. It is also perpetuated by the women who help them, who should know better, but don't act on it.
I could've sworn you once said you wanted to, were going to, because you were fed up. Or something like that. I'll unblock you then.
Well, isn't electing a qualified woman something we all want? To finally break that gender barrier? The reason I'm not trying to sell anyone on this is that I've given up. 2016 was hell. I was worried all along she'd lose, I'd see Obama's progress torn to shreds, and that little girls all over the country and the world would be spat on, and lo and behold, that's what happened. That's not something you get over overnight. I'm not convinced the worst won't happen in this election either. So I'm not even going to bother trying. Not even going to get involved. I'm hoping Harris or Warren will win. But I'm not voting. I don't want to. After 2016, I gave it up.

I blocked Yuka because I had enough of this endless idiocy more than a month ago. And basically now I get to read half of the posts made to the forum and the other half I have to decide if I want to display Yuka's post.

Okay, if you're going to call me an idiot, then I'm blocking you too. That's what you get for name-calling someone.

I don't think Clinton would have made a bad president, but exclusivising a woman to win for gender barriers verges on quite a bit of symbolism.
And Hillary Clinton didn't really lose because patriarchy. You can say that there weren't as many women candidates because of it, but she was a shoe-in for one of two of the most powerful organizations that select for candidates, and it was because of her experience.

I really hope Kamalah Harris isn't as pro-prison as she sounds. I need to do some fact checking to confirm this, but apparently she supported the three-strikes policy?
Edit: okay it looks like it's a bit more nuanced than that. https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/18/politics ... index.html

The thing to remember about 2016 is that Clinton lost by Around 300,000 votes split between three states. At that margin basically any immediate cause (lack of ground game, not catering to the white working class hard enough, embittered Sanders voters, Trump motivating that racist non-voter, unusually high third party voting, several more) are ALL true. Any of this factors being diminished would have changed the outcome.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 3:28 am And Hillary Clinton didn't really lose because patriarchy. Misogyny covers several of those, though not all.
Patriarchy covers all of them.
(I’m being cheeky of course: Patriarchy is a technical umbrella term that covers a lot of things, so if you dig enough on any issue Patriarchy will often be a root cause)
