Opioid Crisis Now Dominated by Illicit Drugs

While Pharma ought to be held accountable for its role in the 2000s opioid crisis, increasingly it is being dominated by illicit heroin and fentanyl.

The CDC has covered this up by counting illicit fentanyl as a prescription drug and by counting overdoses where any prescription drug was found in a person's system as being a prescription drug overdose, even if the person also had illicit drugs in their system.

And yet they fight tooth and nail against legalizing cannabis, which has actually shown some promise in the medical field.

It's time to do what we did during the last drug crisis and lock these people up and throw away the key.

I doubt there's any fair trial that would result in the defendant to be sentenced to be put into a room with the key being thrown away so that even we couldn't let them out. The state's still responsible for their well-being despite conviction and you couldn't get away with that treatment if just for emergency provisions like fire or if they had a medical condition.

No. Just a feeling that these people shouldn't be treated with kids gloves unless it's as part of ending the war on drugs.

Do you think that will actually help anything?
While Pharma ought to be held accountable for its role in the 2000s opioid crisis
How do you think these addictions get >>started<<? People get over-prescribed prescription drugs, then move into the streets when their drug tolerance gets too high for the normal stuff or they get flagged by doctors as a drug seeker.
