Well again, I'm pretty easy going crossing issues between collective and individual matters, but I'm pretty familiar with videos of people going on explicitly racist tirades directly at someone and giving proclamation that things are gonna change under Trump. It's not so much in his name or anything, but to people that tend to view other cultures/ethnicities as more of a nuisance or infestation, Trump as a symbol against establishment politics shines.
I wasn't sure if I could casually find a video on YT, but just searching "racist trump supporter" and got a video along the lines of what I'm talking about:
And yet not that long ago in an instance where all the social justice types got completely wrong (and some just simply refuse to believe that), we had MAGA hat wearing Catholic teenage boys defending gay rights from racist homophobic black Hebrews. I know plenty of people who are Trump supporters where I am from (ND is very red), and none of them are racist or sexist to the best of my knowledge. Hell, the one I knew who was always wearing the MAGA hat and the other Trump stuff back in 2016 into 2017 was the son of Chinese immigrants. The worst that could be said about him is that I know he got a rise out of the "progressive" types on campus.

Not sure what liberals "got wrong" about that. I heard something about them denouncing homophobia, but didn't really hear anybody on the left talk about it. That's kind of an issue with me. I get the mainstream bias against Trump. I mean I understand the compiling of interest groups and historic regulative policies that comprise modern liberalism, and how Trump's agenda undermines it systemically. But now it's a presumed narrative. Everything bad that Trump does takes up the whole room for objective based news about him and his redhats. It's not like I want people to think differently about him, but the news is about him being wrong and not really about each decision that he makes as president, particularly anything that happens positively as a result of him. Not that I'm really sure anything like that has happened, but yeah.
Also to this effect a bit, prison reform. Sounds like something important. Maybe it is. Though all I heard about it in online news is that Kardashian got Trump to do something good. The whole coverage is outlined as Kim Kardashian doing something noble. The positive impact of the policy seems to be the least of concern. The only reason it's being talked about was because she's covered as a person celebrity.

I saw that when it came up, but the story really quickly focused on the reactions surrounding the event by Trump and the left. So I could kinda follow what people were saying but I was lost on what actually happened.

Jussie Smollett is being questioned again by Chicago PD ... and officers are also talking to another man, an actor who has also appeared on "Empire" ... TMZ has learned.
Sources connected to the case tell us the actor, not Jussie, was picked up by Chicago PD Wednesday night right after he flew into O'Hare Airport. We're told Jussie was brought in Thursday morning for additional questioning. Another man who was with the actor at O'Hare was also taken in for questioning.
Damn. What are the odds that of all the MAGA hat wearing racists that wander Chicago streets at night with bleach and nooses looking for random people to attack, that one of them would be a fellow "Empire" actor?
I think if it happened the way he said it did, they had him specifically in mind for the attack. If it was someone who knew him, it would make that much more sense in terms of why they were looking specifically for him to attack as well as possible motivation. Of course this could also point to a hoax with someone he knows helping to stage it, so who knows?

2 brothers from Nigeria will be charged in the alleged hate crime against actor and singer Jussie Smollett, 36.

According to police sources, cops linked the brothers to Smollett and Daniels through phone records.
There are unconfirmed reports that investigators believe Daniels paid the airfare for the brothers to flee Chicago hours after the alleged attack on Smollett.
Also, according to published reports, one of the brothers was involved in a sexual relationship with Smollett, who has a steady boyfriend in Los Angeles.

Investigators subpoenaed Smollett's phone records via his wireless carrier - then tricked him into providing his own phone records to compare. Detectives focused in on the numbers he deleted from his phone records.
In an exclusive interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America that aired on Thursday Smollett said he didn't turn over his phone to detectives to protect the privacy of his high-profile contacts.
But authorities theorize the actor redacted his phone records because he was desperate to conceal his communications with the brothers that night.
This...looks like it's about to blow up for poor Smollett.
