Yeah, you wouldn't want a means to defend yourself from getting your face kicked in by 5 gay bashers who have decided to bash you or anything. Or for that matter to make them think twice about bashing gays since they might try to bash one who happens to be armed. Being a victim is definitely preferable to being empowered.
Violence begets violence and always has. More LGBT folk carrying guns, the more those that wish violence on them will also carry guns and thus a beating has now progressed to a homicide. ''Ah, but he can just shoot back! That'll show them!'' you ain't John Wayne and you ain't winning a gun battle against multiple assailents. Only in your head is this happening. Films and video games seem to have given a lot of people a false impression as to what a gun battle in the street actually looks like. See also: people thinking that a few karate classes down the local mall has turned them into Chuck Norris. Real life is not like that.
And while we are on the subject, LGBT hate crimes are reletively rare in the US, stories like this make the news precisely because they are rare. You want that figure to go up? Have gays start shooting people. The friends and family of the a hole they shot isn't going to care about who started it.

I think it's a retarded concept, but an epidemic compared to...?
The two polar epidemics in the established discussion are hate crimes and gun violence. LGBT are known to be targeted, so I went out on a limb. I also feel it's safe to say that gun violence is an epidemic. Having one person get a gun doesn't really escalate that epidemic imo. If you apply that to everybody though, I feel the rise in guns would probably worsen what I considered the gun violence epidemic.
Feel and went out on a limb...
I am sorry. you would not accept these as arguments coming from a right winger.
I mean as far as societal reflection, right-wing of all things deconstructed from Republicanism, conservatism, or even libertarianism, tends to be the least concerned with rational assessment. Its whole principal encourages social darwinism among humans.
I would say it's the most concerned with rational assessment right now.

Well lol you could say that most any animal is concerned with right now. Fighter pilots? really good at living in the moment and assessing such situations rationally. The most complex understanding that conventional right-wing circulates is basic Freudian logic to describe general issues in society like a nail to a hammer.

Why, you think it's hight art to organize one? As an approach that is yours?
How the fuck did your team of superbrains lost to a man who is only good at insults and self promotion?

As far as loosing to Trump and the issue of guns, I don't really think that people are very clear on DNC's position on them. That and/or they think that they do have a secret agenda. So as far as right-wing gun advocates, I don't think they really cared about Trump's spectacle of insulting people. Trump's probably more charismatic than other Republicans about the 2nd amendment, though not by that much or anything.

Though what about when those assailants start wielding guns themselves?

Ah yes, the old, "you don't stand a chance so why not make sure?" argument. I've never understood that one. I'd rather have some chance rather than no chance. I honestly find it both bewildering and a bit amusing that some people seem like they'd rather wrong their hands and gnash their teeth than even consider the idea that potential victims be given the means to defend themselves.

Trump has already shown he's not pro-gun rights. He's already gone further than Obama ever bothered to try, and he's on record as being in agreement with some Democrats on the whole "take guns first, due process later" thing. This is part of why I like to make fun of people who claim to be pro-gun rights yet support Trump or at the very least hand-wave the stuff he says and does. Of course, most of them are probably Fudds anyway.

You got me. Firstly I just imagine him pushing the deregulation envelope. Searching on it, I'm not finding immediate information about his agenda on guns. After Sandy Hook though, he did propose arming teachers.
But he's assertive on control yeah. Raising the age to 21, and enhancing background checks.
I personally don't think that Democrats are against gun rights that much. I just mean like certain stuff like not letting them be sold freely at gun shows isn't really anti-gun rights so to speak.

Its called threat escalation. You've turned what is statistically most likely to be a simple beating (like I said, murder of LGBT is extremely rare in the US and the West in general) into a homicide.

All the restrictions they propose say otherwise.

I would say that it is.

5 people ganging up on someone and beating them is a potential homicide. More people die from getting beaten each year than die from getting shot.
