Beyond was much better, but Jones was in top form this week. If he'd had a better script this would've been an actually great episode instead of just mediocre.TheNewTeddy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 12:31 pm am I crazy or was the last discovery episode the best trek; movie or episode, since 2005

It's definitely the best Trek in awhile. So far with this second season I've not felt this excited about a new Trek series since the 90s. I just hope they can keep up this momentum.

I think it's worth noting that "the best Trek in a while" (except for Beyond) is still solidly mediocre, and the best parts are the parts that don't have to do with the overarching myth arc.

I stopped watching STD and have no intention to watch it again so I can neither agree nor disagree, but to me, that sounds like you have just damned the show with faint praise.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 11:21 pm I think it's worth noting that "the best Trek in a while" (except for Beyond) is still solidly mediocre, and the best parts are the parts that don't have to do with the overarching myth arc.

You already stated this opinion of it being mediocre on your previous post.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 11:21 pm I think it's worth noting that "the best Trek in a while" (except for Beyond) is still solidly mediocre, and the best parts are the parts that don't have to do with the overarching myth arc.
I disagree with it. To me It felt like a good dose of gold ole classic Trek. It’s also the first time I actually felt for Burnham, whereas in the first season I merely tolerated her as a character.
Now with Saru’s loss of ganglia I’m curious to see how he adapts to having a much more assertive command presence, possibly leading up to becoming the captain of Discovery once Pike returns for the Enterprise.

I mean how much of Trek deserves much more than that? There is a long Klingon fuck-thrust ton of ban Trek out there.clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 12:13 amI stopped watching STD and have no intention to watch it again so I can neither agree nor disagree, but to me, that sounds like you have just damned the show with faint praise.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 11:21 pm I think it's worth noting that "the best Trek in a while" (except for Beyond) is still solidly mediocre, and the best parts are the parts that don't have to do with the overarching myth arc.
I am happy. We will still how long it will last now that Phillippa is coming next episode.

Nah, Insurrection is though.

First Contact is just a dumbed down dumb action movie, though.

Just watched through 'Point of Light' and 'Oboe for Karen' again (friends were catching up), and the Klingon material reminded me of a question that's been nagging at me all this time: where's Voq's other cock? It is like dead bodies in 'Heart of Glory', they got to that bit of the operation and were just "Not usin' it anymore, chuck it away"? (Does L'Rell still have it for Executive Time?) They made such a point in season one of establishing the nature of Klingon junk, I feel like I need some closure here.
