High School Fleet and Star Trek

High School Fleet or Hifumi is an Anime from last year. Set it an alternate hsitory/future where Battle Ships are manned by cute High School Girls. It's awesome.

I kept thinking of certain Star Trek related tropes, due to how Star Trek uses naval references for Starfleet. The main one is that I feel the main crew we're following is what it would be like if Captain Kirk had William Riker for his first mate.

I wonder how many other Trek fans who've watched the show would think that?

So it's like Girls und Panzer but with ships?

It's similar in a sense, but Panzer is also like a Sports Anime hybrid, this one is very much more Dramatic.

Digibro also included it in his top 20 Anime of 2016, I forget if it was in the first half or the top 10.

How anime are we talking about: incompetent star ship with juniors on board that get molested by a weird eldritch abomination every 5 minutes at Warp 5 or hat-lazy professional officers who write the winnings in every factions history books to make their superiority-complex more douchy?

Ah yes Hifumi. I remember that anime. It was silly fun. I could see Star Trek series to have little bit of Bodacious Space Pirates in it as well.
