Re: NY finally convicts a white supremacist as a Terrorist
I don't recall people calling Dylann Roof a terrorist, even though he was by intent. If they can call the stabber in my city a terrorist simply for being Muslim, then surely we can do the same for white hate crimes or anyone with an intention to spread fear and violence against unarmed civilians?

Re: NY finally convicts a white supremacist as a Terrorist
I'm calling into question the distinction of terrorism itself. I'm not asking about why it matters if one group is called a terrorist while another is not.
Why the fuck should one person's act be more severe if it's carried out with political motives.
And yes, why should the public care in the first place if one person is deemed a terrorist? I get that news media and authorities calling someone a terrorist stirs the public in a different way. But why even should the public care if it's a matter of political excursion or not?

Because it's how the media with an agenda reports it.

I explicitly acknowledged that aspect in the very post you're replying to. You're not really getting this.

And... that's why it bothers me, I guess. Because it does shape how free-thinking people tend to subconsciously form their opinions.

I'm personally not too certain. The first I remember of this sort of dispute was when on the Trump campaign when he was pissed that Obama didn't call it radical Islam (not sure what Obama precisely called it).
Not exactly the same as the terrorism/extremism dichotomy, but it seems to be the respective opposite of this fixation on terrorism distinction.

I get this, really, but I'm more asking about how the government officially classifies it.
