Haven't watched Re:Born, so don't know the later's abilities, but Schönkopf wins for two reasons:

1.) He fights in what is essentially full plate armor with a long sword, against a guy with a hook-knife, so he has the advantage of reach, armor and the asian guy using an impractical weapon.
2.) Schönkopf looks like TOEI's Captain Future (seriously, who designed Schönkopf, the similarities are too obvious) and Captain Future is awesome.

Correction: Schönkopf uses a battleaxe, the boarding weapon of choice in the Galactic Heroes universe.
