It's not semantics for me. One period or act does not always define a man.

It's definitely different from the original Kirk, but I mean it is understandable to say the least. He thought Spock had his back and not lying for him left him hanging.

But this isn't one period, it's a continuing trend because we've still got all the dickish behaviour from the first movie that was never cancelled out, and a whole bunch more dickish behaviour afterward. Why are you treating this like it's an isolated incident when it clearly isn't?Slash Gallagher wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 6:07 pmIt's not semantics for me. Also this isn't a small act, this is him expecting another person to risk their career by telling an easily caught lie in order to protect his career.
I personally don't find it understandable to expect the guy from the species that abhors lying to lie for you, but YMMV.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 7:11 pm It's definitely different from the original Kirk, but I mean it is understandable to say the least. One of the biggest problems there was that they JJ movies never actually established friendship between them. They just coasted on the audience being familiar with the original versions of the characters and took the idea of them being friends for granted without having to work for it at all.

Well the worst of that sentiment was the Khan reveal. Not about Kirk and Spock being friends but just it only means something to the audience when it happened.Admiral X wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 7:59 pm One of the biggest problems there was that they JJ movies never actually established friendship between them. And a specific audience at that.

I personally think that How It Should Have Ended nailed the Khan reveal.

It's kinda hard for me to be objective, i hate the Prime Directive.
Re: DIS: “Will You Take My Hand?”
What I don't get is why Kirk just assumed Spock would lie to back up Kirk's report. Did he never discuss this with Spock at all? Actually ask Spock to lie so Kirk wouldn't get in trouble? Because, if not, then forget being a dick, he's just an idiot.
