Well it's the same thing that happened to me with Infinity War. Same time I'm pretty sure. Ticket presales were announced and I bought a seat at my theater. A couple days go by and I'm thinking the movie's coming out soon, but it turns out it's like 3 months away.

Re: Captain Marvel: The MCU's First Failure?
I highly doubt it will be a failure, except perhaps by the loftiest MCU standard. I wouldn't be shocked if the movie fails to impress a decent number of fans this time around. The early trailers weren't great and a lot of people aren't overly familiar with Captain Marvel, certainly not in comparison with the main Avengers. Add on to that that we've already seen so many origin stories, some people are going to be hard to impress. Of course, Marvel markets their product so well that by this point people feel as if they actually have been following the character for years, so it remains to be seen.
It would tick me off if Captain Marvel swoops in and saves the day in Avengers Endgame. Get the Avengers started on the right track or enable them to somehow take on Thanos, that's fine, but it would be incredibly disappointing and controversial if the Avengers took a backseat in the final film of this phase of the MCU. I haven't followed any spoilers, but that's I would be pretty surprised if that happened- everything is set up for Captain America, Iron Man, or both to save the day in the end and die doing it.

The Avengers themselves weren't the biggest A-list lineup.
And this actually looks like a fresh take on origin stories, at least for me who hates all origin movies except for Batman. I'm looking forward to CGI Samuel L Jackson and the 90's retrofit overall.

How may more times do you want to see their parents end up dead? There should be some animated episode with just them being killed in some DC show.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 7:16 pm The Avengers themselves weren't the biggest A-list lineup.

It's hardly the length of a song. People write whole plots to him becoming Batman aside from the parents death scene that are always distinct takes and they're always well regarded. Can't really say the same thing about Spiderman.Slash Gallagher wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 8:04 pmHow may more times do you want to see their parents end up dead? Well you can say it about Into The Spider-Verse. But that was definitely a departure (in a good way) from the conventional Spider-Man movie.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 9:10 pmIt's hardly the length of a song. As to OP's query: no, I don't think it's going to be a failure. The Force Awakens, Last Jedi, and Black Panther all had similiar 'backlash' by the same vocal minority, which turned out to be just that - a vocal minority. Larson's comments, near as I can tell, were pointing out that film criticism/film journalism was still primarily dominated by white males disproportionally to the makeup of audiences, which...doesn't really seem that controversial to me, as a white guy?

Does this look like good faith criticism of the movie to anyone?
The biggest problem I have with Captain Marvel is that it'll eat into Alita Battle Angel's box office.

After Last jedi Kathleen K did not speak to any crowd and stopped talking to media about Star Wars. She only made a big public speech at a fashion show or something...Yvonmukluk wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 8:05 amWell you can say it about Into The Spider-Verse. Why is that Twitter rando relevant to this conversation besides being used as a strawmann to beat up on people who don't like Captain Marvel's PR and the Last Jedi?
Is there some magical barrier preventing POC's from doing the kinda irrelvant job of being an MSM movie critic?
They only matter because of an aggregator site.

It's only a strawman if you make up an argument that nobody is making, Slash. You should know this by now.
