Clearspira, why do you want this movie to fail?

Darth Wedgius wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 7:59 pm Brie Larson said that she didn't care about the opinions of white men about A Wrinkle in Time. Do I need to give the definition of discrimination?
That's not the same thing as saying "we need to ban white men". No need to overreact. :)
So what you're trying to say is,
Brie Larson doesn't want to ban white men. Brie Larson wants to discriminate against white men. There's a difference there, and some people think the latter is just fine. Because, for some people, the problem isn't racism or sexism, the problem is that the targets were the wrong people.
?
No, I wasn't. There's a large number of white male journalists than any other demographic, and Larson is confronting that by saying there should be more diversity in the field, as opposed to white males dominating it in large numbers.
I
isn't not caring about the opinions of white men for a movie a form of discrimination? I've still got that dictionary.
No, it isn't. Discrimination involves excluding or oppressing people in some way. My lack of concern over whether or not you like a movie is different from me oppression you. This aint no hugbox.
White men were excluded from her consideration. That could well be called oppression as well.

Yes, I've seen that corner of YouTube.

Darth, she's not keeping white men out of movie theaters. She's not limiting their ability to direct films.

Slavery is oppression. Segregation is oppression. Redlining is oppression.

Not giving a fuck what you would rate the 2,127th marvel film of the decade on rotten tomatoes is not a form of oppression recognized by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and you need to grow a thicker skin.

Deciding that anything somebody says you don't like is oppression? Isn't that what you lot always accuse liberals of doing?

I didn't say she was enslaving. If you thought I was saying that, you may wish to re-read what I said, but more carefully.

I said she was discriminating by sex and race, and she was discriminating by race and sex.

Again, I'll repeat. Older white conservatives are the poster children for white male privilege, so... I don't see this as being so bad. Of course, some older white hippies can do just as bad in terms of white privilege, so... (shrug)

I didn't say you did.

I'm saying she's doing jack shit to oppress white men. How does her simply not caring what their opinion of a given movie is affect them in any way? How does it hurt them?

It doesn't, as far as I know. So we're in agreement, then? And it would be fine for me to announce that I don't care what some race or sex has to say about an issue too, then?
