Slavery is oppression. Segregation is oppression. Redlining is oppression.

Not giving a fuck what you would rate the 2,127th marvel film of the decade on rotten tomatoes is not a form of oppression recognized by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and you need to grow a thicker skin.

Deciding that anything somebody says you don't like is oppression? Isn't that what you lot always accuse liberals of doing?
I didn't say she was enslaving. If you thought I was saying that, you may wish to re-read what I said, but more carefully.

I said she was discriminating by sex and race, and she was discriminating by race and sex.
I didn't say you did.

I'm saying she's doing jack shit to oppress white men. How does her simply not caring what their opinion of a given movie is affect them in any way? How does it hurt them?
It doesn't, as far as I know. So we're in agreement, then? And it would be fine for me to announce that I don't care what some race or sex has to say about an issue too, then?
You made out that she was discriminating against people. Discrimination involves some kind of harm, some kind of oppression, some kind of injustice.

Were you lying then or are you lying now?

Sorry, I misunderstood your earlier comment. She is still discriminating against white men. Your definition of discrimination isn't something I care about, actually.

Their claim is that mentioning someone in terms of their identity is bigotry. You can't say black person? Then you can't say 40 YO White guy.

So under all the layers of irony what do you actually think?

Nothing excuses what she said or how she said it, and it's pathetic that you're supporting that thought process. See why I never believed you were libertarian? ;)
Makeshift Python wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 8:24 pm She never said anything about excluding white men from press junkets. Inclusivity means all demographics that INCLUDES white men.
Except that isn't what she said either. She said that a movie "wasn't made for you" and thus she doesn't want to hear from them. So, yeah, that would be excluding.
Nah, it's a simple fact.
Nope, just bigotry, and now you're trying to excuse it with the lamest excuse ever - because other people who are clearly evil are doing it. You are never going to achieve an egalitarian meritocracy by playing oppression olympics, and it's laughable that you'd even suggest that was the goal of identity politics.

Makeshift Python wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 8:33 pm Larson's point was that forty year old white men aren't the target demographic of that film. Somebody pointed out to me the other day Nostalgia Critic's review of the film where it seemed a lot of things went way over his head. He should probably just stick to reviewing nostalgia material.
Yeah, it's not like that movie was based on a book or anything. Or that it's ludicrous to suggest that because of one's race and sex that one cannot possibly understand a movie.

But a libertarian would not care in the slightest what she said.
