Re: Sound off on 45
While others are brazenly open about who they block, and I've seen no reason to do otherwise, I do wanna respect the reasons why, if that makes sense. Or, I dunno, I just feel like being enigmatic today.

If we're doing a show of hands, from all I know of the man I think he's an appalling person. As a president I'm not sure I can really get my head around the enormity of the moral failure of the presidency, as an institution, that allowed someone like him to inhabit it, but you can take it as read I wouldn't be awarding any gold stars even if I could.

Then why did you bring it up in the first place?!

Well, Fuzzy's been accused of compiling a potential block list, but he may just be curious about disparate views.
Personally? I think he's a narcissistic demagogue unfit to be mayor of a small town, much less President of the United States, and that he got into power the same way any demagogue does: appealing to the worst instincts in the electorate. Moreover, I frankly wonder if he ever intended to be President, but rather entered intending to just rile shit up in the Republican primary before losing, just to have his message give him enough early victories that he got unbeatable momentum and the rest of the GOP fell into line to back "our candidate" as they seem to usually do. Then he got to run against a Democratic candidate facing over twenty years of negative attacks on her reputation (some possibly deserved), with her base divided by Bernie S, while believing her Presidency her personal right and a foregone conclusion. A candidate whom I'd describe as having the charisma of a dead fish, but that would be unkind... to dead fish.
And yet I still voted for her, nose plugged, because whatever her negatives, I feel she at least understood the dignity of the office she was seeking, and better her than the narcissistic demagogue. Unfortunately, while I was in the majority of Americans, it was not a majority in the right states (including my own).

I wanna quote Chuck here. "I may be an asshole, but I make up with that by trying to be a fair asshole." With emphasis on "try" in my case.
Of course, there's also another reason.
My views on Trump? Is pretty much that he's a pig in a wig, but you get what you paid for. I honestly think Sanders is worse. But then, that should come as no surprise to anybody. And I'm someone who actually sympathizes with reformist, progressive communism - not the Stalinist vanguard party type socialism, which is rife with corruption, but one that's employed over time.

Re: Sound off on 45
Trump is the first GOP POTUS candidate in a long time I didn't vote for. I'm glad that he won instead of Clinton, but that's really not a very high bar. I think he's obnoxious and petty.
I'll support him on some issues (e.g., making fighting illegal immigration a priority), and oppose him on others (e.g., global warming). My loyalty is to the country, not the person, no matter who's in that office.
This might be the least helpful, most wishy-washy answer you'll get on this thread - sorry.

I wanted them both to lose.
