So much for the claim that illegal border crossing is no longer a problem because it is at the lowest level in years. Nope. Numbers are hitting highs not seen in more than ten years.

Sorry I could not find a more reputable source to cite than the Washington Post (currently facing a quarter-billion dollar libel suit).
But of course, there is no emergency.

Anything to justify billions of dollars, huh? Even though we're in debt. But if you think this must constitute an emergency, surely you must agree gun violence and climate change constitute an emergency as well?

Given how much these border-crossers are going to cost us, it seems ridiculous to be fixated on a few billion for a wall. For that matter, none of the Democrats are working to help get asylum reforms and deportation reforms that would alleviate the problem; in the last spending bill they assigned hundreds of millions for helping more people cross the border.
But please spare me the lie that you care at all about saving money. California is spending lots of money on protecting illegal aliens, I don't hear any complaints about that.

Re: Illegal Border Crossings Surge
Cost us in refugees and asylum seekers? You think like a racist white conservative, "they're stealing our jobs," but you know it's people like Trump pushing this wall who hire undocumented workers? Maybe address the problems with capitalism rather than blame people just trying to seek a better life? Namely, that the big corps will do whatever they can to cut costs. Dump their money into banks that help them escape certain taxes, go overseas to hire cheap labor, invest in automation. Either way, that money's not reaching the common man.
A few billion dollars when families are struggling to survive? When a woman has to hold down two jobs, her husband a single job just to feed their kids? Yes, it's an unnecessary expense, and once we've dumped all our money into this wall, what do you think the GOP is going to cut from the budget to try and pay for it? Healthcare and social security. All sorts of "entitlement programs" that hurt the poor and make the rich even richer. But I'll repeat. If he has "the right" to declare a "national emergency" over this damn wall that's only being done to appeal to his base, nothing more than that, and will drain money from the military, then do WE have the right to declare a national emergency over gun violence and climate change?

When will you learn, G-Man, that when you build the wall then they'll just be encourage them to skydive from plains?

Of course I know. But remember, 190 or so Republicans voted to mandate E-Verify on businesses last year and every single Democrat voted against it.
"Racist" is just a word for white people who do not engage in an orgy of self-hatred.
It's not about blame. Opening the borders and letting millions of illegal aliens is a bad idea. You probably would have argued that we should have fought World War II without killing any enemy soldiers, because they aren't the ones to blame, the politicians are.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 4:01 amMaybe address the problems with capitalism rather than blame people just trying to seek a better life? But are you willing to spend ten times that amount on healthcare and education for illegal aliens and their children?
Oh please. If you wholeheartedly supported Proposition 187 in California, and insisted that the children of illegal aliens were not entitled to public education or that illegal aliens have no rights to healthcare, I might believe you cared about saving money. But when border security is the only thing you want to pinch pennies on, it is clear that you are willing to spend ten times the amount on illegal aliens that you are on keeping them out. That means that you really don't care about the money.
It's like the politicians who don't want to "waste" $7 per card on putting photographs on welfare cards. They don't care if we wind up spending 100 times that on welfare fraud, which indicates that saving the money really isn't the issue, protecting the fraud is.
How about the money the Democrats want to spend on social services for illegal aliens? ESL classes, in-state tuition for illegal aliens, that sort of thing? Or the money the Democrats are demanding that we waste trying to make it easier for migrants to get across our border safely?
Obama basically decided that he was going to make up immigration law with DACA, and leftist courts are stopping Trump from ending the program. What makes anyone think that once in power, the Democrats won't do whatever they want regardless of the precedent set by Trump?Yukaphile wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 4:01 am All sorts of "entitlement programs" that hurt the poor and make the rich even richer. And if the only issue in dealing with gun violence or climate change is a funding issue, I suppose they can.

Btw, I'm not a white guy with "self-hate." Your assumption is wrong. I have no hatred against whites any more than any other human ethnic race or gender. If you're gonna hate one, hate them all equally. For we are ALL equally flawed. And obviously there's lots of great white people out there, since the world hasn't wound up dead. And some of your words ring true when it comes to stuff like German self-guilt complex and victim-blaming WWII refugees, but... outside that context, it's not self-hate so much as identifying your own privilege. I have it even as a male. If I were to be raped, I would not get pregnant. That's a privilege, and so will not face pressure to keep it, or have to make such an awful choice.
