There is 1 type of failure that matters - financial.
I have absolutely zero idea whether or not CM will fall into that pit.

Mostly just annoyed at all the pre-movie bashing.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 8:21 pm
Anyone here remotely suggesting that it was going to steal anyone's manhood or end humanity? Or did you too forget to add your winky face?

Correction: there’s only one race.Darth Wedgius wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 5:37 pmSo the only race you know of whom it's OK to discriminate against are white people. Even if Asians do better than white people, on average, in a predominantly white country. Got it.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 6:35 am I already answered:
I can’t give a comparable example of what would constitute as “punching up”, whether it’s about race, status, class, etc. Other things need to factor in such as free speech. “Punching up” would certainly not be a thing at all in North Korea unless conducted in private. We can easily mock Trump for his silver spoon upbringing, but you can’t really do the same on Korea’s leader unless outside his domain.I only live in the US, I don’t know the intricacies of other cultures in different countries like I do on my home nation.
I’m curious, do you live in the US?
On topic: I saw CAPTAIN MARVEL and.... it’s alright. Neither top tier or bottom. Perfectly adequate entertainment, which is SOP with Marvel films. I also checked to see if I still have a penis after seeing the flick and am happy to report it’s functioning well.

I’m sure that a majority of reviewers that gave the bad reviews on that audience score had no agenda behind it at all.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 8:39 pmThere are two types of failure: commercial and critical. Captain Marvel has a critic score of 81% and an audience score on RT of 36%. You brought up Black Panther and Civil War so lets do a comparison: Black Panther - 97% critic score, 79% audience score. Civil War - 91% critic score, 89% audience score. In this regard, it is a failure.Ordo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 7:58 pm Solid Marvel movie, not their best not their worst. The storyline went in some interesting directions, the characters were likeable and their motivations (For the most part) relatable or at least understandable.
Apparently it made about 25 Million in the states on Thursday so it's in the company of 'Black Panther' and 'Captain America Civil War' so it's in fine company domestically. It also made another 80 Million World wide so far...so it's not looking like a failure at this point.

Me personally I always put more store in the audience score anyway and that goes for any film or TV show - this has only been solidified in me with the dissonance surrounding STD and Orville. I simply do not trust any reviewer than draws a wage. Although lets be honest, 81% is hardly breathtaking for the number 1 feminist movie of the year either.

I have tickets to see it tonight after work; I will be seeing for myself. If it's better than either of the first 2 Thor movies I'll be happy.
We must dissent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwqN3Ur ... l=matsku84

It's fine to take to the audience score more than the critical score, but determining failure in spite of more objectively qualified standards on multiple fronts is a bit reaching. Being an sjw feminist aspiration doesn't really make things more severe either.

At one point Danvers blows off the head of a life-size Arnold Schwarzenegger cardboard cutout at Blockbuster. Clearly an indication of her hatred for white men. She must pay for her crimes.

Chris Pratt acceptance speech at the kids choice awards kicked off with a "jesus loves you" bit, not at the end of it but beginning. Then his faith came up in the news, though it was Ellen Paige calling out the institution he's at for being homophobe and he kicked back "jesus loves you." That last part might be a tad exaggerating, and this isn't really that big of a deal, but I notice it about as much when I notice progressive speak.Slash Gallagher wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2019 8:20 pmIt's incredibly obscure. You think there would giant petitions of the press was not pushing for it? I don't really see a push for more original female superheroes that obscure. The smiling controversy isn't that big of a deal. And the whole thing about male journalists didn't have anything to do with this or even one of her movies. So this is part of what I'm getting at, is I'm just not following specifically.
I see Chris Pratt drone on quite a bit about his religion quite a bit now in days. That's opposite of left, and potentially just as dry.
It'd help better if you talked about Rightists hanging in the closet instead of leftist privilege. There's sure a good number of outspoken leftists in comparison, but that makes sense when you're in the entertainment industry and not really bound to conservative lifestyle. BTW Robert Downey Jr. is proud conservative after his rehabilitation. I've always got a big impression that Disney is conservative appropriate with stuff. Fox sure isn't in the closet one bit. Bruce Willis, open Trump supporter who didn't particularly get thrown out.
Higher education? You mean like STEM that often time maybe requires some token sociological driven classes as part of gen ed curriculum? Maybe more social science curriculums that talk about how social conditions 25 hours a day. That's kind of where leftist principles cultivate (that don't really fare well in the job market btw). My degree was very bipartisan.
What she said about male journalists fits nicely with the political shit sandwich Disney is pushing.
What does this dronning on quite a bit mean?
Why is speaking out a lifestyle thing exaclty? Also the Right has many variants.
I recall Downey alluding to it once when confronted about it. But not outright saying it. Source?
They wanna see right wingers burn, they just like the child friendly brand.
If Bruce Willis was hot property he would get some the Chris Pratt treatment. Also being a former star gives you some minimum immunity against prog bs. Also he is a DTV guy now and only got to star in his recent movie because long ago he stared in a Shalmayan movie.
I mean what the professors and administrators identify as.
I think Bruce Willis doesn't get bad attention because he doesn't really slam liberal agendas like Tim Allen was. He's kind of just bitter and quiet, and arguably a bit out of it with regard to his stardom. And you're right though that Bruce Willis and Stephen Baldwin are not hot property or w/ever, but it's still kinda evidence against the strongest groupthink in Hollywood.
I'm not sure if Downey Jr. is conservative actually, he just talked about his rehab turning him less Hollywood lib. and that probably had more to do with the 90's esque social liberal vibe of don't try and stop me from letting my life go down the tube.
Well he is a Republican.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 11:00 pm At one point Danvers blows off the head of a life-size Arnold Schwarzenegger cardboard cutout at Blockbuster. Clearly an indication of her hatred for white men. She must pay for her crimes.
