Probably. Dunno if the Right or Left agenda is placing more fake reviews. Maybe we are lucky enough that both agendas are cancelling each other out and it's a real score?

So I didn't read the whole 36 pages of this thread but IS Captain Marvel really a massive failure? I heard stories about this film being either bad or just "meh" so I was wondering (before going out and seeing this)- is it a trainwreck if so how did Feige fuck up on his watch?

Depends on who you ask in this thread lol. Though, I do get how you're inquiring about it based on general reception. All and all I'd say there's plenty of evidence to suggest that it's servicing the MCU pretty strongly to the likes of maybe Guardians of the Galaxy. Not sure if it's Black Panther or Wonder Woman status. While the quality seems to be comparable to Doctor Strange, it seems to be a more fresh addition to the franchise, as Doctor Strange felt like a hodgepodge of The Matrix, Inception, and other movies to turn out an otherwise generic plot outline.cilantro wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 9:49 pm So I didn't read the whole 36 pages of this thread but IS Captain Marvel really a massive failure? Nah, it's only a political agenda when it's against the movie you like.

It's a good movie. But something feels missing from it, a scene or two that'd elevate it into a great one.

In some of the more recent "controversial" movies (Solo or The Last Jedi), you could debate whether or not the film was a failure in one way or another. So far, it's looking like Captain Marvel isn't going to be a failure in any sense that Disney would care about. A huge success at the box office, and a cinemascore of "A." I think people probably put just a little bit too much stock in cinemascore, but it does put the movie in line with the vast majority of other Marvel movies. Its critical reviews aren't spectacular, but pretty much in line with your typical Marvel movie.
As far as review bombing or whatever you want to call it, some kind of obnoxious comments precipitated that, but no one is going to lose sleep over it after the weekend they did/are doing at the box office. And unlike The Last Jedi, nobody is actually disenchanted with the franchise because of this or would even think of boycotting Endgame.

To be fair that coincides with when it's actually a political matter and not coded fandom bias.

It's a decent movie from all accounts. Not terrible, not remarkable. Some don't like it, and that's fine, and there's plenty of trolling or just going after it because of some PR they didn't like. Overall though it's making bank. What legs it will have remains to be seen. But opening weekend will be huge, especially for an origin movie.cilantro wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 9:49 pm So I didn't read the whole 36 pages of this thread but IS Captain Marvel really a massive failure? So apparently the reason for the sudden jump in the user rating on Rotten Tomatoes is because they deleted 50,000 negative reviews.
