A wall, patrols, rapid deportations without a hearing to anyone in the country illegally, and denial of government aid services to illegal aliens would, I think, have a positive effect.
Rapid deportations with without hearing sounds like a good way to carry out an ethnic cleansing on Latino populations.
And letting everyone who crosses the border stay sounds like a good way to ethnically cleanse non-Latinos from border cities.
In any case, what we need to be able to do is to turn everyone who crosses the border illegally away the same way we are allowed to turn Mexicans away. We need to be able to use the "return" deportation option rather than having to go through the "removal" option. Not sure exactly what level of hearings that involves, but we can already do it with Mexicans, and until around 2008 or 2009 with everyone else as well.
You don't know what an ethnic cleansing is. Unless you saying that Latinos with forcibly remove white people from the boarder it's not an ethnic cleansing.

Does the Latino population all illegally cross the border? That hasn't been in the news.

No, but when you not having hearings there is nothing stopping ICE from grabbing a random Latino off the street and shipping them to any random Latin American country. I mean it's not like ICE hasn't already detained American Citizens form years at a time already.

Let me clarify: rapid deportations of anyone caught crossing the border illegally, without a hearing.
Again, look at what my right-wing Latino friend from Arizona says. They don't care if the citizen is legal or not, they just wanna "deport ALL Latinos," and so grab them off the street.

Hell, you're getting so upset about desperate refugees and asylum seekers trying to search for a better life in the country whose government fucked up their nations during the Cold War, installing puppet dictators?
I'm upset over economic migrants abusing our asylum system to get access to our country, where they will depress the labor market and use lots of social services.
But somehow, someone who is aghast at spending $5 billion on a wall because we are so in debt is perfectly fine with spending 30 times that as long as it is helping people stay here.
Yukaphile wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 10:18 pmWhy not get upset over things like ICE which is not at the level of concentration camps for Latinos, and I'm not going to be one of the more emotional liberals who claim otherwise, but they are at the same level as the Japanese internment camps. Only seven decades later, here we are, repeating those same fucking mistakes.
Why am I not upset that we don't just let everyone who crosses the border stay forever? What am I supposed to be upset at? That we detain people who are here without permission? Why would I be upset that we control who we let stay in the country? Also, I think we are talking about the Border Patrol, not ICE, when we are talking about people who are detained for illegally crossing the border.

And I repeat, people who are made so miserable by the changes in their towns caused by a deliberate, malicious non-enforcement policy probably do not find much comfort in the fact that the government technically managed to keep its hands clean.

My friend lives in Arizona, and he says sometimes they don't care if you're legal or not, they'll just round you up if you're Hispanic. It's full-blown racial profiling. Which is no surprise given it's the state where Arpaio came from.
As Darth Wedgius said, he just meant the no hearing for people who were caught crossing the border. I question whether the people who just "round up" people are just shipping anyone over the border, even the Mexicans who can be returned rather than removed. For that matter, I am not certain that there is exactly "no hearing" for people who are returned rather than removed, but it is a much faster process.

If ICE is involved, it's a removal case rather than a return case, so no hearing would not apply.

You do realize the sanctuary policies where pushed in the first place because the tendency of immigration enforcement to go for easy wins lead them to deport those that came to the police to report criminal activity in the area? Also the recent report shows that the bulk of drugs, thus organized crime, comes through ports of entry. I don't know about you, but I think allowing a build up of organized crime is going to have a bigger effect on quality of life in a region than non-criminal immigrants (see Arizona v. United States)

If there's not a hearing, there isn't a way to confirm that you've really got an immigrant period, and it's very easy to get rid of "Undesireables". It would not be the first mass-deportation of native-born brown people in the USA's history.

If people are rounded up illegally crossing the border, then citizens illegally crossing the border could be deported. I'm OK with that - they can come through the gates next time.

You misunderstand me. I'm not saying that people got rounded up while trying to cross the border the other way. I'm saying that citizens who grew up in this country going about their normal lives were rounded up and "repatriated" to mexico by force and without due process.
