Might wanna look up the subject on a reputable news source for info, though. I'm feeling extra salty so I posted the onion's Man on the Street opinion piece.

Re: HIV cured in second patient
''Graham Cooke, a clinical researcher at Imperial College London, points out that this kind of treatment wouldn’t be suitable for most people with HIV — who don’t have cancer and so don’t need a bone-marrow transplant, which is a serious procedure that can sometimes have fatal complications. “If you’re well, the risk of having a bone-marrow transplant is far greater than the risk of staying on tablets every day,” he says. Most people with HIV respond well to daily antiretroviral treatment.''

"A Bone Marrow transplant can cure HIV" isn't exactly a great premise but 2 incidents of it means that it wasn't a fluke.
IT also provides more information for how to handle it.

If sounds like something to do only when replacing the bone marrow anyway, but it also sounds like it points the way toward a promising route for gene therapy. Being able to wipe out HIV in the U.S. would be pretty nifty.
