This study by the American Academy of Pediatrics claims trans youth have a significantly higher rate of suicide than cis youth. Don't veterans already have high rate of suicide? Seems like a risk multiplier on a group level. I'm no expert, but I don't think being in the U.S. military should be treated like a right. You have to be generally qualified to join and as a group it appears trans people are more likely to be mentally erratic and a danger to unit cohesion.
Trans people have higher suicide rates because they're literally the most irrationally hated minority in the USA. Trans kids get treated worse than Muslims, who are already basically subhuman to a good chunk of the country. This comes with high rates of homelessness and high rates of being tortured because conservative parents regularly put their kids into "pray and torture the LGBT away" gulags or straight-up kick their kids out (it also happens if you date somebody of the wrong race, but that's decreased a little bit over the past few decades).
Trans people are no more inherently mentally unstable than cis people.
Trans people have higher suicide rates because all their lives, they feel like their body is wrong and that they are a freak. Even after transitioning they have a substantially higher suicide rate, and it isn't because of the rather simplistic reason you put forward.

Don't dismiss what prejudice and stupid people can do. Do you know how it feels knowing very few "normal" people will ever date you if you'd transitioned? How many men who transitioned to women would feel comfortable in a world if they REALLY wanna settle down, for example, knowing that it's near to impossible? What man would have them?

Chuck, bless his soul, is very compassionate, and even he admitted he wouldn't date someone who'd transitioned. Not attacking him. Just pointing out what a serious problem this is, even among people who aren't bigots.

Yeah, could you back like all of these claims up? I've heard of the homelessness problem but the "tortured" thing really needs some numbers and definitions if you want me to accept that. I know there are "pray the gay away camps" and it's logical that hardcore conservatives would send their trans kids there too, but how many of these camps are there and how many are using physical torture? The fact that mentioned more or less out of the blue these guys being anti race-mixing makes this feel more like an attack on conservative parents who don't accept their trans kids immediately. Don't get me wrong, it's horrible these kids aren't being completely accepted, but their has to be more information.
Well, Mormon churches like to use electroshock therapy on gay boys' genitals. Ask Mike Pence about that.

Typically these concentration camps use either electroshock or Jesus-infused "struggle sessions" straight out of Maoist China.
The anti-race-mixing part is a very real thing in the South, there was actually a big Guardian article about this recently.
If you want more information, go to a homeless shelter and ask around saying that you're doing an article for the school paper on at-risk youth, odds are that you'll be directed to a trans person within minutes. Ask them how their parents treated them. Rude? Yeah. But effective.
Go to a homeless shelter and ask around? Seriously, is that where you got your info? You've given me no numbers and only the vague description of "a big Guardian" article for a question I'm not even sure I asked, though I don't blame you thinking since I said back all this up. Even if I did this and got more or less what you told me from them, transgender people in homeless shelters represent the a subset of the trans population. I don't know how big or small. I'm not even saying you're wrong, just that you're not very convincing.

I won't do your research for you, sir. I'm trying to get into graduate school, working part-time, and trying to get a better job, I don't have time to do enough research to write a fucking scholarly paper to win an Internet argument.
If you don't want to learn, don't do the research. If you want to learn, do the research and fact-check the results against something reliable. I literally don't have the time to go find a Guardian article for you when you could just as easily go look for it yourself.
