With this and the success CAPTAIN MARVEL has been enjoying, I suppose it's not that good of a week for them.

I look forward to his SS2!

That first film is such a paradox where it has some great elements to it but is put together in an awful way. I feel like if I could take the raw footage and assemble it myself I'd get something closer to what I want, which is more of a ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK vibe than the haphazardness of the finished product. So many unnecessary cutaways, flashbacks, etc.

Okay, funny story that is 100% true, around the time Gunn was fired from Marvel my sister, who is a Huge GotG fan was off visiting her friends in Los Vagus. And with Gunn's rehiring she is, in fact, visiting her friends in LV at this very moment. XD

Well, I think it's good he got rehired. He's a talented director and since he's the most experienced with those characters and their stories, he's the best fit to continue it. I really don't like people losing work because of social media, especially if it's in the distant past.

Fixed that for you. Gunn is a great choice for directing it IMO (Though honestly David Ayer is a good director too, just too much executive meddling in that first movie). More decent movies is always a good thing.

He also knows how to make a retro soundtrack work. Though Suicide Squad 1 was probably trying to ape him without understanding why it worked.

In terms of the direction at least, Suicide Squad wasn't trying to ape GotG, that all happened with the editing. Not that I think the cut that they would of gone for originally would of been better mind you, but at least it would of felt like an actual movie, rather than a string of music videos occasionally interrupted by the Margot Robbie variety hour.
