Plenty of brown Christians, too. Wouldn't surprise me if there were actually more brown Christians than white ones, yet it's still seen as a white religion. And Antiboyscout is still entirely correct about the double standard when it comes to religion and how the regressive left treats them. For all the widespread condemnation of Christianity over stuff like refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding, the same people doing that will leap to the defense of Islam if someone should point out that ISIS was literally tossing gay people off of buildings. Same could be said for the treatment of women by the two different religions. Hell, you literally have what are supposed to be secular nations making anti-blaspheme laws solely for the protection of Islam because of this double standard.

More like we don't wanna demonize one billion people. If they wanted us dead, we would be. That, and lots of regressive right-wingers tend to treat most Muslims as if they're ISIS or al Qaeda when really most of them are just normal people. The same way you cannot treat all white Christians as if they're the same as Dylann Roof. Of course, my problems with religion are well-known here, in that I consider it too dogmatic and obstructive to progress and that it's a flawed system about tyranny to king-like figures rather than common human goals like justice, stability, cooperation, harmony, and so on.

So I tend to treat Islam and Christianity as the same. Same as Judaism. They're all primitive and archaic relics from a past we need to shed before we move into the future. So, if you're going to consider Islam a religion of hate (which is what some right-wingers think, yet strange how one billion people aren't all hateful freaks, huh?), then you must do the same for ALL religions. I know it's about love and peace and forgiveness, but that's hate in an entirely new way - in absolving crimes that someone should not be forgiven for, or that they were never punished for. After all, should someone like Hitler or Stallin or the millions of criminals under their command be absolved so easily? I thought not.

See, ISIS is as Muslim as the People's Temple was Christian. It's a literal death cult following an apocalyptic-millennialist theophilosophy that is at odds with the philosophies of all three major Abrahamic religions. Judging all Muslims by ISIS is like judging all Christians by the Westboro Baptist Church, and not even the most deranged Tumblr screed does THAT.
