Re: Religious debate
Anyways yeah that doesn't really have anything to do with what was being talked about. And I'm not familiar with dad's being ordained to murder their sons or anything.

Re: Religious debate
I think they're talking about the story of Abraham and Isaac, where good old God told Abraham he needed to sacrifice Isaac to him and stopped him in the last moment going, "It's just a prank bro!"
Ah, Old Testament God.

That's what I was thinking at first, but I thought we were talking about Christianity lol.Beelzquill wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 11:15 pm I think they're talking about the story of Abraham and Isaac, where good old God told Abraham he needed to sacrifice Isaac to him and stopped him in the last moment going, "It's just a prank bro!"

Re: Religious debate
Are you implying that the Old Testament doesn't matter to Christians or that the Old Testament is irrelevant to Christianity?BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 2:15 amThat's what I was thinking at first, but I thought we were talking about Christianity lol.Beelzquill wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 11:15 pm I think they're talking about the story of Abraham and Isaac, where good old God told Abraham he needed to sacrifice Isaac to him and stopped him in the last moment going, "It's just a prank bro!"

Oh very true. Still though Christianity seems transformative from its parent teachings.

Re: Religious debate
Its one of those examples of religious hypocrisy. When it has a passage they like its ''bitch, read Something 23.3''. When they don't its ''bitch, its just the Old Testament.'' Its one of the reasons why the modern Christian is closer to being an atheist than they like to admit, given how many don't attend Church, read their Bible from cover to cover, pray unironically etc.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 2:19 amAre you implying that the Old Testament doesn't matter to Christians or that the Old Testament is irrelevant to Christianity?BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 2:15 amThat's what I was thinking at first, but I thought we were talking about Christianity lol.Beelzquill wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 11:15 pm I think they're talking about the story of Abraham and Isaac, where good old God told Abraham he needed to sacrifice Isaac to him and stopped him in the last moment going, "It's just a prank bro!"

Hebrews 11:17-19 explains the significance of the Abraham-Isaac passage to Christianity.
