I know people have strong feelings on this, both for and against. Personally, I'm over the MCU and have been feeling dissatisfied with it since Age of Ultron. The Guardians of the Galaxy films have been good fun, but even the second one that gets praised so much for its emotion just felt unearned IMO. Like it didn't do enough to earn the emotions it wanted to draw out.

So im indifferent to this news, I look forward to what he does with SS2 and assume he's laughing cashing both checks at the bank right now, and good for him. Regarding those flipping out on Disney hiring a person who makes pedophilia jokes, look I'm not going to say to not have strong feelings on this, its pedophilia. But this is DISNEY. This is the same company that has spent the past year trying to tell you that for forty years, the Star Wars fandom was toxic AF and noone knew about it until they started spreading tales of the toxic fandom IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY EXPERIENCED FAILURE WITH IT!!!!!

Oh, and they are ALL about diversity and representation. Thats why they have one of their main characters be black, and be a SPACE JANITOR!!!!

Disney doesn't care about morals. They care about you thinking they care about morals, but they are all about the $$$$$ and this is simply a business decision. This is why I'm really indifferent to their game now and am rooting for the DCEU.

If you're offended or know someone who is, okay. Fair enough. There are people that are all for it, and they are people like me that just don't have a horse in the race either way. So long as people are tolerant and respectful of differing stances and opinions we should all be okay. I know thats a novel concept for the internet I know but lets give it a go shall we.

I'm not willing to condemn him outright based on some jokes (some of them really make me wonder though), but consider this - plenty in Hollywood still defend Polanski, who straight-up admitted to drugging and raping a minor.

But Polanski is an “ARTEEST!!!”, therefore he’s ok.

Of course all they ultimately care about is money. You think WB is any different?

Hollywood looking to make a buck?

Next thing you’ll tell us is that water is wet.

Something has changed in the last two decades. My Socialist friend blames "Human Resources" and late-stage capitalism, and I can't disagree. Yes, it was about profit in the 1990s, but somehow the stories were better. ReBoot, Teen Titans, TNG and DS9... and now look what they've become. ReBoot: The Guardian Code. STD. Teen Titans Go... as you look at all this, you begin to realize something is fucked up. Either our standards sunk, or entertainment got worse.

Or you’re getting old and less open to new things, which is only natural. I’m sure there’s children’s programming I would have loved today at the age of 8 but I’m not 8 anymore and can’t appreciate them as I do of what I actually grew up with.

Which is ironic, because I'm 31. But then, 90s kids are the generation of "old-young people."

Go to a YouTube video dedicated to 60s/
70s cartoons and you’ll find GenXers talking about how cartoons have gone downhill since then. Apparently all generations after just haven’t been graced with the nuance of Jabberjaw.

Are you seriously going to argue now something has changed while giving reverence to kid's entertainment in the 90s, many of which resulted from FTC changes during the Reagan era?
