I'd actually be in favor of the "multiplier" punishment. It's good deterrence.

A multiplier is a good idea, though I think it might exacerbate the "blue wall" problem considering the rare police officer to go to prison is targeted by inmates almost as bad as child molesters.
edit: I think that judges often give relatively light sentences to police when they are convicted because of that. It's a difficult problem to tackle because of the institutional bias in favor of law enforcement in the system.

I can sympathize. Hell, when I heard Dylann Roof was raped by a black convict, I was disgusted. He's already paying for his crimes. He didn't deserve that.

Well, tbh, I find that a relief. Don't get me wrong. He's a hateful monster and deserves to be in jail. He doesn't deserve... that...

I think the blue wall should be an automatic prosecutable offense as well. Conspiracy after the fact, to conceal a crime. I think the hardest thing to get right is to keep the media from trying people in the court of public opinion when an investigation is under way. There are justified police shootings, after all.
