Rey's problem in Last is she never asks the logical questions
Okay Luke tried to kill you... Why didn't you just shift through the rumble and kill him? Also Why did you have the other Knights of Ren on Speed Dial to come help you murder everybody and burn down the temple in the span of one night.
I mean when phrased like that... Ben seemed to have been plotting against his uncle from the get go... and Luke was always told to use his instincts trust his feelings. The sad irony would be... His feelings was true he just didn't realize just how far gone Ben was.
Kylo's problem is he's very clearly an Emotional unstable git with the power to do what he wants...
I'm almost expecting the twist is...
well to Quote X-files Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose
The Puppet: You've seen the things I've done, both past and future...
Clyde Bruckman: They're terrible things.
The Puppet: I know they are! So, please tell me... why have I done them?
Clyde Bruckman: Don't you understand? Haven't you figured it out, son?
(The Puppet shakes his head no)
Clyde Bruckman: You do the things you do because you're a homicidal maniac.
The Puppet: (smiles slowly) That...that does explain a lot, doesn't it?

To make it fair since some people on here might not have read the star wars legend stuff here is a bio link to Jacen solo from wookiepedia (take it with a grain of salt its a wiki) https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Darth_Caedus
Re: Any correlation between Kylo Ren in canon and Jacen Solo in Legends?
One point that I do want to mention is that I'm Not a fan of Jacen or Legacy of the Force. In fact in many ways I honestly dislike it More then TLJ due to it going on a LOT LONGER then it had to be and just how poorly the characters were written and it was just so Padded. While I think Jacen motives are more human and believable that was only when the writers Remembered what his goal and motives were as he sometimes completely changed his goals from one book to another, sometimes it was to protect his daughter, other times he was doing all he was for the "Greater Good" and sometimes he was doing things just to be evil.
It's the same problem with Kylo, as he doesn't really seem to have a goal beyond what ever the plot demands of him. In TFA he's obsessed with killing his father and Luke only for him to more or less drop that in favor of wanting to rule the galaxy and wanting Rey. If it is a case of, as Wargriffin said, just him being homicidal maniac, that's okay but they Really should have just said that from the start so more time could be devoted to his character. Same issue with Rey, if she was always suppose to be a nobody who had no special relatives then they should have just said that from the start so they could focus more on fleshing her character out in TLJ.
Sorry to keep beating this dead horse but TTT managed to avoid this issue with Mara by building up and resolving the mystery of who she was in Hair to the Empire which worked to help set the foundation for her character arc throughout the rest of TTT. Questions were raised and answered in ONE novel and the rest of TTT was about fleshing out and developing Mara's character and any and all mysteries were ones that We already knew the answer to but were information She wasn't aware of.
For example, We know that Palpatine was a terrible person but Mara was only ever conditioned to be loyal to him and as the Trilogy goes on and we get to know her better we end up wanting her to see Palpatine for the horrible person he was. We come to see that Mara IS a good person and that contrary to what she may believe Palpatine never really cared about her. And as Mara slowly learns the truth about her foster father and see her come to terms how he was nothing but abusive towards her we end up getting more invested in her journey because the novels took the time to flesh out her character instead of just leaving her as this Cypher who we learn less about then Han's dashboard dice (seriously Why is Disney so obsessed with those dice?)

cause the dice can be made into Merchandise!
At this point Kylo's character arc is pretty much a wash... Hell Lucas did a better job of showing Anakin's fall in the snap shot format the PT took on
Kylo can be summed up as he's just fucking Evil... and shit happens

Yeah that does seem the most likely answer as even most hardcore SW fans probably never even noticed the dice and likely never cared about their backstory. I mean with the opening of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade that was showing us how Indy became the Treasure Hunter we know him as and things like the whip, the scar, his fear of snakes and his hat came from. Most, if not all, of these points work for LC because it's an origin story in under 30 minutes and is there to show us why Indy becomes the way he is.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think the single biggest flaw of the Prequels is the dialogue. Had the dialogue been better written I am 100% certain that TPT would be better received as I do think the story is good it's but the dialogue makes it hard to take serious at times. Would they be as well received as the Original Trilogy or The Thrawn Trilogy, unlikely because while I like the Prequels they're still flawed. There is to much CGI, the plot is to complected and like Chuck said making Anakin's whole backstory into Episode 1 did cause a number of pacing issues.Wargriffin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 3:32 pm At this point Kylo's character arc is pretty much a wash... But again, I think the biggest flaw with the Prequels is the dialogue cause if you look at scenes where either A) The Actors were allowed to improvise their lines like Anakin and Padme's diner scene in Attack of the Clones. B) The Actors managed to make Lucas' dialogue work for them like Ewan McGregor, Frank Oz or Ian McDiarmid. Or C) Just allowed the expressions and body language of the actors along with the music, setting and sound design to tell the story, like in the moment right before Anakin goes to save Palpatine the story was allowed to shine through.

Hey Winter, I actually created a section for revised prequels dialogue. You interested in checking it out?
