Re: ENT - Fusion
@Admiral X Around 19 years ago I accidentally stuck my mom in the leg with a dart. Didn't see her walking, and I STILL feel guilty, two decades later. Really.

Re: ENT - Fusion
I remember complaints over ENT being that Vulcans blatantly lying, because Spock once said "Vulcans never lie". I think that's always been more of an exaggeration, and we know Spock was capable of doing that and even admit it. This piece of dialogue from VOY is probably my favorite when it comes to Vulcans and lying.clearspira wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 10:45 am Personally I have never bought the idea that ENT ruined the Vulcans personality wise as imo Spock and the other Vulcans are very much like Worf and the other Klingons. One is the ideal of how their race should be due to being an outsider, the other is the reality of corruption and self serving interest. Did we not have Spock bullied for being half human as early as The Animated Series? Did we not have Serek lament how human Spock is just after his birth in Star Trek V? Did we not have the Vulcan who murdered people for smiling in DS9? Did we not have the baseball Vulcans from the same show?
The Vulcans have always been xenophobic, racist dicks.
CHAKOTAY: Can I ask you to be honest with me, Lieutenant?
TUVOK: As a Vulcan, I am at all times honest, Commander.
CHAKOTAY: That's not exactly true. You lied to me when you passed yourself off as a Maquis to get on my crew.
TUVOK: I was honest to my own convictions within the defined parameters of my mission.
CHAKOTAY: You damned Vulcans and your defined parameters. That's easy for you.
TUVOK: On the contrary. The demands on a Vulcan's character are extraordinarily difficult. Do not mistake composure for ease. How may I be honest with you today?

Okay, so I had to laugh really hard when Chuck said the thing about Archer pissing people off especially when he is trying to be accommodating. Mostly because he was sitting down to eat with 3 Vulcans, one of whom has stated repeatedly that Vulcans are vegetarians, and he still has chicken brought in. He really couldn't eat a vegetarian meal for one night to keep his first meeting with them pleasant? Hell eat a damn chicken sandwich later. I know it is used for the whole "we are not like other Vulcans" reveal, but its a clunky way to get there. It makes your main character look like a jerk. Then again they were never afraid to make Archer look like a jerk.

@Makeshift Python Tbf, it's like "warping inside a solar system" - it's something the show itself is inconsistent on, depending on the writer. Sometimes they can lie, sometimes they won't.

When was the idea that you can't warp within the solar system established? I can remember Kirk doing that as early as TOS in "Tomorrow is Yesterday" which introduced the slingshot time travel method.

Re: ENT - Fusion
I believe it was TMP. "Redemption" and the "In Purgatory's Shadow/By Inferno's Light" two-parter ran with it too.

I barely remember any references, aside from Kurn's ship doing a crazy maneuver of warping right off a star to have the corona blow up two ships chasing him, some of which I believe was stock footage from THE VOYAGE HOME (which had warp within the solar system, even having the BoP warp off within the Earth's atmosphere!).

Kirk mentions it in a log in tmp before he breaks the warp drive in a rush to meet V Ger. I guess creating wormholes is a pretty good reason not to do so near a planet.

Re: ENT - Fusion
Wasn't that because the Enterprise had just been through a major refit, or is that what normally happens?
