What you like about the "odd number" Trek films

I’ll just rank em.

TSFS - Feels like a classic TOS episode in a sense with the silliness, fake sound stages and Kirk tumbling with the enemy.

TMP - I love its atmosohere. Goldsmith is tops.

2009 - I love the jovial energy, which has been missing from Trek for way too long before this came out. It’s dumb as rocks but feels fresh after the doldrums of the Berman era.

Generations - I think it’s the best the Enterprise D looked photography wise.

Insurrection - It’s nice to see the TNG crew loosen up, wish the film was better.

The Final Frontier - Embarassing, but it’s got another solid Goldsmith score and some of my favorite Kirk/Spock/Bones moments.

From TMP to Insurrection. Overall well regards for The Motion Picture, Search for Spock, Final Frontier, Generations, or Insurrection. Bonus points for negative regards for Trek '09 and Beyond.

TMP: I loved the shots of the improved Enterprise in Space Dock
SfS: Enterprise leaves space dock and shows she still has it. The sudden reality of Scotty's "I wasn't expecting to take her into combat." And Kirk's statement to the Klingon on the ship they steal. "Fine I'll kill you, later." And it felt like Trek with the crew putting everything on the line for one of their own.
TFF: It moved faster than TMP?
GEN: The whole sailing ship scene was beautiful and Patrick Stewart looked right in the old sea uniform but on the Enterprise bridge. Both Captain's seeing through the lotus machine effect of the Nexus. Picard by remembering reality, Kirk by realizing he has fear. But not there. And they both choose to return to reality.
INS: Mostly I felt the Crew was right for the wrong reasons. The Sona'a have no real clue and cut corners and ally with an enemy. So how do you know the collector even works? Sorry easy for me to get distracted on this one.
2009: I loved the look of the Kelvin. It was clever.
