Something I wanted to say earlier is that as someone who grew up in Chicago, ski-masks in winter aren't that uncommon by themselves for someone who likes not having their face frozen off to have if they spend a lot of time outside. Wearing a MAGA hat on top of a ski mask would be pretty asinine looking.

Well, explain me this: How did the two brothers come from being personal trainers and being paid for their services a few days prior, to a gay-ambushing, cos-playing nigerian mini-gang?
I'll admit that given their background as nigerians, they might have an anti-gay based motivation, but how do they get from being seemingly on friendly terms with one of their paying customers to attacking said customer with no further potential gain?

Also the way the police got on to them was through comparing the records they'd gotten from the phone company, and the records they got from Smollett, and noting who he'd deleted from the records he provided. You can want to believe it all you want, but the case against him is solid, and it is only through corruption and connections that he's essentially been given a get out of jail free card. This may well see this prosecutor lose her position and bring on a Federal investigation, in addition to the mail case.

That happens all the time in real life. Quite a lot of attacks against gays in RL come from people they know casually versus complete strangers.

I thought one of the two brothers was gay themselves.
National and state prosecutors’ associations have blasted the Cook County state’s attorney’s office for its handling of the Jussie Smollett case, with an Illinois group saying Kim Foxx “has failed in her most fundamental ethical obligations to the public.”
The Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association said the dismissal of the charges — without any admission of guilt by Smollett — was “an affront to prosecutors across the state” as well as police, victims of hate crimes and the county as a whole.
Good. That office deserves to be ripped apart at the seams.
