The controversy that is Bill Maher

Post by BridgeConsoleMasher »

I'm actually just curious about what people here have to say about him. I personally find it interesting the volume of people on the left that just despise this man. Any problems I've had with him are less fundamental and more on the nuisance level, but I thought it'd be fun to have a thread that I'd assume has a good deal of roasting.

Do you think he's overall problematic? Or do you think he's just a whiny leftist echo chamber?

I'm gonna do something that would make Slash proud - I'll defend anti-vaxxers' rights to be assholes, as much as I vehemently disagree with them.

Bill Maher is basically the Right Wing Media's idea of what a Liberal might be. He's rich, claims to be progressive but disdains the poor, religious, foreigners, and is condescending to other races. He's actively racist against Muslims and condescends their culture while spouting ignorance about them as well as anyone not white or European. His religious disdain also is from the same sort of condescending pseudo-intellectualism that produced Christopher Hitchens. Except he actually could write intelligently (even if frequently wrongly).

I say this as an ultra-Leftist.

I won't because most of them are vaccinated meaning they are gambling with the lives of other people.

I agree with him on some things, appreciate his consistency on religion even if I disagree with his views on it, and really just disagree with him on most things. He's not someone I really go out of my way to watch or anything.

@Draco Dracul Then that would be hypocrisy, which I'm not a fan of.
