Re: Elfen Lied

I've heard of women who stood by and watched as four men to town raping a poor, helpless woman, and when the victim begged her for help, the woman just laughed. Mayu's mother kind of reminds me of her. I think, or hope, there's a special place in hell for people like that, as well as those committing the crimes themselves. I loved Mayu as much as the other characters, and what happened to her was a pure outrage. Imagine if Yuka knew? She might try and take on the parents single-handedly, lol. Or Lucy could show a rare Pet the Dog moment in bringing her their severed heads. Kind of like what Hiei did with Mukuro.

Oh yes indeed, especially since, as I said, the bath scene for Yuka is the one that's my fave, but there's others, like Nyuu's molesting of people, Nana's leg... things, and Mayu's own past pain. And yes, yes she is. What's so crazy is people will worship Lucy and bash Yuka as if she's worse. SERIOUSLY. Now, I do love Lucy. I think shipped with the right person, she could have a happy life, and in my fics, that's Goku or Gohan. And if Yuka is a 9.5 on my scale, Lucy/Nyuu would be a 9.945, very close behind, but... come on. Yuka, for all her flaws, isn't a psychotic killer and a jealous rage machine. Even I can admit that.

If you allow for the idea that it's doing some extreme riffing on the ideas of harem anime, set to the key of "Date with a Serial Killer" - maybe Elfen Lied has a bit of redeeming value as metacommentary. But overall, it's unpleasant to sit through on a lot of levels. On the "skip" pile.

Yuka is definitely the most stable of the girls, and the poor thing gets hated on so fiercely by the fan dumb. If any of the girls were real, she's the one I'd wanna marry the most, hence my avatar and username, as you guys can probably tell.
