Depends on the writer too. IIRC wasn't it Grant Morrison who wrote up the DC Multiverse's structure?

The current post-Flashpoint one, yeah. Except for the Dark Multiverse stuff, that was Scott Snyder.

Heard of Dark Multiverse. Planning to download that. A friend recommended it.

Jonathan Hickman's runs on Fantastic Four and Avengers were both extremely sci-fi, at least by comic book standards. I'd easily recommend checking out his work (which is also pretty good for other reasons, but his use of sci-fi concepts, even faux science, is an element that scales up rather well).
