Why do we care if Legends characters become canon? Do you see what the movies are like under the new leadership? They made Luke the very antithesis of everything he stood for. No, it's best not to have any more character assassination on that scale. And besides, Legends is still there and can be enjoyed. Disney seems to be treating it as a separate continuity, though they shouldn't have called it "non-canon." Legends has layers of canon, as any old-school fan will tell you. Should have just called it a "completely separate but canon continuity." Some of the authors even view it as Legends is frozen and can be revived at any time, but tbh, given the crop of idiot writers and the mess they've made of things in the new administration, I'm happy Legends has a definite start and end point to it now. Not everything has to be a reboot, but that's what they did, and it killed any chance we ever had of seeing Legends movies on screen, which I think most people would have preferred seeing over what we actually got. What scares me is talk about "canonizing" stuff that happened thousands of years before the Empire - stuff like the KOTOR games and so on, and that just sends a horrified shiver through my body. Given how badly they've fucked up everything else, I _really_ don't want them laying their grubby hands on that era and bring that into the Disney canon, because there are two problems. One is that either very little would change, so it's repackaging something that was just fine where it already was simply to make sales, in other words, maximize corporate greed, or add huge edits to conform to the Disney canon which would just KILL the spirit of that era. Bah! Star Wars and Star Trek and other franchises like them are dying a slow death, and I can't wait till it's over. Maybe then these out-of-touch business suits will stop raping our childhoods and trying to destroy all these great stories that are just being ruined by greed and apathy. And need we recall what Kreia said?
"So you will do nothing? Apathy is death. Worse than death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds the beasts and insects."

I love the original dub, but I can admit it has its flaws and isn't faithful to the original source material. To that, I say... so what? Do you really gotta attack other people over that? People's views are people's views. I could say Heath Ledger is the best Joker. People would disagree and say Jack Nicholson is the best, or Mark Hamill, or Phoenix's character in the new movie, or whoever! And you know what? I don't think they're drooling morons or somehow less human beings for feeling that way. Seriously, grow up, people. I love the original dub, admit to its flaws, but I don't hate those who love Kai, and I've been looking for a chance to check it out.

This "movie" is clearly fan pandering. They're bringing back Lando, Luke (even though he died in the last movie), Leia (even though Carrie Fisher is dead), and even flipping Palpatine? How the fuck is that possible?! And who knows, greedy corporate executives may defy the odds and pay Harrison the high price he'd need to be tempted to come back, and even throw in Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. But let's be real: It's damage control after the atrocity that was The Last Jedi, plain and simple. And it won't really be Star Wars. They abused your trust, and regaining that can be hard. For me, they lost my trust and have never gotten it back when they declared Legends non-canon. That proved the level of disconnect they have for the franchise that's been shown in the recent films. Legends had layers of canon. Ask any old-school fan. And to cite George? Jesus Christ, George Lucas wasn't even involved in Legends, he flat-out said he left that to other people, and you know why he thought _only_ the six movies were canon? They were his babies. He said as much. Do you expect any parent to love the kids at the same school as much as his own? Didn't think so. They should have kept Legends as a separate continuity and reassured people it could be brought back any time. But they didn't do that, and got off on a wrong foot. And now the new EU is just cherry-picking whatever it can grab from Legends to throw into it rather than doing its own, new thing. It's disgraceful and disrespectful to 30 years of world-building, and given what we've seen those power-hungry freaks do lately, I'm frankly happy Legends has an end point. It's a story that's in this little perfect frozen time capsule, and they can't touch it... for now, anyway. Kind of like how the 24th century in Star Trek is... at least until the Picard series and Kurtzman ruins it, sigh...

Well, I ain't gonna play the race card here, but I think the big problem is she came in too late, when the episodic and static nature of Pokemon and its status-quo style adventures were becoming tiresome, after Tobias had literally godstomped Ash, and despite all he's done, rescuing the planet, the whole frickin' universe, brushing shoulders with gods, and seeing more than things than Iris could have imagined, this newbie comes along and insults him, calling him a "little kid." Which, yes, we all know Ash is, but come _on._ It's like she was a big middle finger to the fandom. First off, Ash shouldn't be 10, but they said he was. And it's like the previous seasons were ignored in favor of a kind of soft reboot that shoved how obnoxious it was in your face, and Iris became the walking avatar of that. Poor Iris... I was, sadly, one of those initial fans who blamed her for that, feeling Ash deserved more respect, but then as time wore on, and he was treated like he was in Kanto when he was first starting out, you know, thinking he could beat a Gym Leader with just _one_ Pokemon (seriously?!), I lost interest, and gave up the anime as a bad job - and once I did that, I learned to appreciate Iris more. Haven't seen Serena, but she's probably nice. Hell, I love Iris now simply _for_ the fact that she's kind of like a cute, tribal jungle girl that was paying homage to Sapphire from Pokemon Adventures. And while I won't accuse people who hate her of being racist, I _will_ accuse those working on the show in her genesis of being racist. You wanna create a type of more "natural, primitive, savage" girl companion, and you make her _black?_ Really? I thought we were past this.

I'm not sure what my last comment will be. I haven't been commenting lately, but don't plan on necessarily stopping any time soon.

It has to be said that all of these comments are exactly what I would expect you to post Yuka. I mean nothing funny by that, i'm just stating an observation.

That's just _one_ creator among many. You have to examine Toriyama's intent. He clearly had this universal punch in the anime and manga, so that came from Toriyama's brain, and then there's Jaco outright debunking the four-galaxy myths in the anime and manga again, before showing it on screen. There's a reason it's said DBS is made to shut up the haters and win debates. Besides, I agree many of these writers (purely working on the art, plot, continuity, character, etc) aren't on the same page. So, there you go. But downplayers love to cite that because it's a somewhat credible source to pretend the punch never happened in the manga, anime, and how many reliable sources confirmed its power, including the narrator. So really, all you have to argue is your own headcanon. "Waaah, waaah, waaah! I don't want the god tiers to be universal, waaah! I don't want my pet characters to lose, waaah!" Grow up.

(shrug)
Been boycotting the new material, honestly. Have since 2015 after what's happened to Legends. I don't like their contradictions and outright lies that goes into making this franchise now. They claim Legends is a mess, yet their new products are just as much of a "mess" from any objective standpoint. They claim Legends is non-canon, was never canon, and cite George, even though the man clearly only cared about his own movies (they were his babies), but admitted he left those details to other people, which feels cowardly. Legends had levels of canon. And now they're literally just throwing characters from Legends into canon as well as ideas from Legends into canon that don't belong there. Legends should either be fully canon in its own separate continuity, which they claim is not so, or non-canon so they can do their own thing, which they can't commit to. It's nothing new. It's a hodgepodge of something that pretends to be new, but is stale and worn-out, and is too attached to Legends to let it go completely, but also wants to pander to Legends fanboys at the same time they insult them. There's no respecting the fans here. Star Wars is as derivative as it's ever been and I won't give them my money. I'm actually looking forward to Toy Story 4 and Green Lantern Corps far more.
