Um... perhaps I should have made this less broad... I was thinking only live-action...

I've been giving it some thought this morning, and honestly I feel if I could sit down and watch just one superhero movie right now it'd be... well, Endgame, obviously... but The Rocketeer. It's not perfect, but it's really pretty damned good, and it's got heart for days.

Batman Returns is so underrated, and a hell of a lot better than Batman: The Movie. Sorry, just... didn't really care for it. I like the Schumacher films, though, so make of that what you will. Yes, I'll go on record and say while Batman & Robin is a bad film, it's not as bad as people make it out to be, and at the same time... how is anyone surprised by it? You get what you paid for.

I nearly picked Batman Returns - I probably like it as much as Rocketeer, if not perhaps a bit more - but to this specific question, I got to wondering if I like Batman Returns as a superhero movie. Being honest Batman's kind of a supporting character in it - it's more the Penguin's film, except Catwoman only crosses his path tangentially, she has her fling with Bruce sorta coincidentally to the plot, and then there's Shreck who's just kind of pinballing off other characters like the physical manifestation of Christopher Walken's vocalisation choices... it's less a hero narrative and more a Venn diagram that happens to be shaped like a bat; I feel like what I'm enjoying isn't a superhero story, but something else that's fantastic, but is its own thing that just happens to involve a superhero and a couple of villains out on the town.

Judge Dredd (1995)
I know a lot of people hate it but I watched it when I was a kid (it was the first film I actually owned - I'd seen it in the store for years and desperately wanted it) and loved it. Such is the power of nostalgia and the associated memories of that carefree period in my life that nothing else has ever come close.
The 2012 reboot was a much better film, on a technical level and in performance terms, but the few issues I had with it (mostly the costuming - the film felt a little too insecure, almost ashamed of its source material) kept it from challenging its predecessor.
Avengers Assemble is my favourite MCU movie, closely followed by Guardians of the Galaxy but nothing else is even in the ballpark. The Dark Knight is great and I'm very high on the Nolan trilogy in general but I haven't seen any other live-action DC film since the costume/casting for Man of Steel was revealed.
I actually liked Daredevil as a kid but I've never gone back to rewatch so I can't really comment on its reputation as an all time bad superhero film. Catwoman is hilarious and I've watched it more times than I really should have.
Other than that, I genuinely love Mystery Men and Sky High.
