Re: AOC and bartending
Look up Sanders' proposed plans on single-payer. It failed in his own state and blue AF California. And then he also passed a huge publicity bill to excite his base of SJW snowflakes, and most of the 2020 candidates signed onto it while admitting it was just for show, knew it had no chance of passing, and if it did, they wouldn't sign it. So it was blatantly political posturing to appeal to snowflakes. I know Warren and Harris signed on. I think Brooker too. Also look up Sanders' proposals on how to break up the big banks, specifically his interview with the New York publication around the time of the 2016 primaries.

She's one of a handful of Democrats that are pushing sweeping reform to the tune of what Sanders usually talks about. The Democrats being more status quo centrist are not totally receptive to them, but they are big with the left populace.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 5:16 pm Thank you, BCM in particular. On the right, they see her as young and idealistic. They tend to not take her that seriously for both of those reasons. Apparently Fox News has a lot to say about her in a negative sense.
As far as what a rep said of her (pertaining to the warranting of this thread?), Trump said, "And we have this "New Green Deal" by a young bartender." He said this at a rally, the crowd laughed, then he walked it back a tad and said, "no, I like her. She's 29" or something, saying that he likes her, which is what he usually does unless the politician has done something incompetent.
It seems like he was just giving speech fodder. I can't find the exact segment, but it's like a 2 hour speech where he talks about each person in Congress and apparently people are reacting about this.

Aaah, that is enlightening! Thank you very much for providing the context.

She's not a senator, she's a congresswoman, otherwise you are correct.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 4:36 pmAOC is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of two senators for the state of New York. She holds the distinction of being the youngest senator ever elected. She's also affiliates with the Socialist Democrats party (or something to that effect). A new political movement spearheaded by Bernie Sanders out of the 2016 election. Those two facts make fear in the conservative man's eyes.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 1:10 pm For the record, I am not a US citizen, so "AOC" meant nothing to me. Please be so kind to think of the USofA not being the only country in the world and at least make clear what a post or picture or abbreviation refers to. Furthermore, who the fuck is Chandler Gilliatt and what is the context of her posting this?

A congressperson can refer to either a senator or House representative, though yes she's actually just a representative.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 5:48 pmShe's not a senator, she's a congresswoman, otherwise you are correct.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 4:36 pmAOC is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of two senators for the state of New York. For an idea of how much seemingly-obsessive conservative media coverage there is of her, The Onion has mocked it... https://www.theonion.com/fox-news-debut ... 1831814505Madner Kami wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 5:16 pmThank you, BCM in particular. If you want some actual Opinion discussion on her media presence:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyl ... story.html
For what it's worth, she seems to be taking her job very seriously, and knows that a lot of eyes are on her for a variety of reasons. She's outspoken, but mindful, and that's a dangerous combination to a lot of the established, older colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

Re: AOC and bartending
If she's anything like Sanders, offering pie-in-the-sky promises with no plans on how to do them, then that's not conservative backlash, it's people wanting pragmatism. But pragmatism died with Hillary Clinton's chances of winning. Now to beat Trump, we think we gotta do what the GOP did and play to people's emotions rather than how Obama and Bill Clinton won, and American politics is about to enter a new dark age where intelligence and rational discourse goes the way of the dinosaur...

AOC is the left's version of Donald Trump. It's not that the right is obsessed with her, but rather it's usually just reporting on the most ridiculous thing she's done or said lately. In the pauses between her idiocies, I usually see her pretty much left alone.

It DID come off as mildly obsessive early on when they were trying to find something to pin on her and targeted her 'broke woman working her backside off' image and you had people tweeting about how 'that jacket and coat don’t look like a girl who struggles.' https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2018/11/16/18099074/
