AOC and bartending

''Broke'' was very relative.

That might have gone a little too far. It might legitimately call into question her portrayal as broke, but it's basing a lot on a little. Like the attention to the size of Trump's hands from the other side, I suppose.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 10:32 pm It DID come off as mildly obsessive early on when they were trying to find something to pin on her and targeted her 'broke woman working her backside off' image and you had people tweeting about how 'that jacket and coat don’t look like a girl who struggles.' https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2018/11/16/18099074/
Re: AOC and bartending
It's just a lame attempt at character assassination. When they can't win on policy and have to rely on smear tactics its a pretty clear sign she's won the argument. Oh some will try and couch it in routinely cited by long debunked arguments like the ever-in-bad-faith "but how will you PAAAAAY for it" that has been long answered but disingenuous actors always bring them up no matter how often the answer is presented.
Notice how they NEVER do this when defense spending or corporate subsidies are mentioned. She has some rock solid ideas and has a clear path to implement them. Its just that the US is so screwed up with how election funding works that most politicians are compromised well before they take office.
This is as true of Pelosi as it is McConnell. They don't serve the american public they serve the interests that are going fund their next campaign. AOC went up against one such arrogant elitist in her primary but that guy was an absolute blowhard. It royally pissed pelosi off to see her little dark apprentice knocked off by someone not taking dark money. I just hope she gets replaced soon.
I remember Pelosi bragging that she was the "Best Fundraiser" in the democratic party.
Ahahaha... I believe her and that's why I want her gone more than just about anyone else.
AOC being popular and... in a seat she'll probably never lose is the best middle finger the left have given to the Anti-Reform elements of the democratic party in decades. The only thing that really could top that in the near future is taking the presidency.

I'll never understand how anyone spouting that kind of unqualified self-congratulation thinks it sounds like anything but an admission of corruption. The only people who should be happy to hear it are prospective donors that were wondering if it was worth approaching her with a bribe.
Indeed.
Re: AOC and bartending
I feel you. It just... We pretend america is a democracy that... votes speak that ideas are held in the highest regard but. Instead the richest elements continue to cling to power and the media is complicit. They don't really dig into the lobbyists surrounding the politicians but they always stop to worship the funding numbers. Without going into what that money MEANS. It's so frustrating to watch the DNC pocket millions from the financial sector and nobody in washington wants to call out this flagrant breach of ethics and it happens every day on both sides of the aisle.Deledrius wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 12:59 am I'll never understand how anyone spouting that kind of unqualified self-congratulation thinks it sounds like anything but an admission of corruption. AOC did it the right way Ro Khanna did it the right way and they are demonized for it. Ya know at least as close to the right way as the current system allows public funding would be ideal but there needs to be a ban on PACs funded by for-profit interests.
Its a sad day when ethical funding of elections is considered "Far-Left"

Another one I found hilarious:
AOC: 'I plan to pay my staffers a proper wage they can live on.'
Fox News: "DAMN DIRTY COMMIE!'

Very well, good sir. Rubber bands at 20 paces, but to make it serious risk we both have to wear red shirts.
