South Korea to legalize abortion for the first time in 66 years

This is for topical issues effecting our fair world... you can quit snickering anytime. Note: It is the desire of the leadership of SFDebris Conglomerate that all posters maintain a civil and polite bearing in this forum, regardless of how you feel about any particular issue. Violators will be turned over to Captain Janeway for experimentation.

Not even gonna take the time to debate this. Won't convince you. Hard-righters really are resistant to facts.

Overpopulation is a bit of myth and with birth rates declining over developed nations it's unlikely to be an issue worth bringing policy down on. Loosing up the regulations on abortion shouldn't be a big issue one way or the other.

And yet people actually panic at the idea! Look at how they're convinced Japan will be gone in the next 50 years or so. Do they have social problems? Yeah, what nation alive doesn't? But they'll resolve those in time, as do all of us. It's those old instincts to keep breeding and keep us going. But they're obsolete in the 21st century. I'd also argue that more social acceptance of self-pleasure and stuff like exploring your own sexuality past the traditional religious "find a nice girl, get married, and have lots of kids" dogma is helping to also improve things along. Imagine when we have VR worlds and sex robots. I think the population will really plummet then, as, for example, if incels can't find a real woman, they'll just order one or go fuck their favorite characters, possibly worse, but it is their fantasy, so... shrug. Except for those who see possessing a "real woman" as a mark of vanity, they're a real lost cause. Fuck them.

If you want more childbirths, provide a better social safety net and worker protections so people can raise their damn kids instead of going "Welp, the best we can do is a dog."

Good luck - Asian nations have a fetish for work that rival's only the US. Its going to be an absolute MESS when new technology starts putting them out of jobs enmass. How long until computer learning algorithms can do the same job as your rank an file office worker, faster and cheaper that human labor could possibly keep up with? Thing is this won't be an isolated thing. once these programs are up for sale you're going to see an industrial revolution style change but instead of factory workers you'll be seeing people completely out of work and dependent on government programs.

If I may paraphrase Japanese rule of 7 speaking about an interview with a Japanese company.
"You've heard of work-life balance? We don't do that here."

Recipe for disaster.

Hey look, the EXACT OPPOSITE of reality.
Wealthier people have fewer children. Focusing on your career and staying single or having both the husband and wife work tends to do that.

Opposed to people who were hunting the phantom KGB because they could not handle their ass being handed to them?

It's also true. There is nothing that ai cannot do that we can. Only a matter if time.
