Re: Star Trek (Ent): Impulse
Retroactively change the mission from "rescue" to "scientific investigation in force into Vulcanoid psychoactive effects" and it's a success. That's not "turn death into a fighting chance to live" so much as "turn a lot of death into a fighting chance at a better efficiency report," but you take what you can get.
More seriously, though I'm not one for zombie horror, I appreciated the effort to mix up the show's style. Taking risks in a show once in a while is a good thing, though it can be overdone. A show about exploration can do a little exploration of its own.

So what happened to the whole "Vulcans have three times the strength of humans"?
Or does Trellium make them weaker somehow.

Enterprise never seemed to get the memo on that.

Re: Star Trek (Ent): Impulse
Just finished the episode.
I didn't get the cube joke, but the sushi joke was hilarious. Same with the "complex plot on Enterprise" thing.
I also knew he'd bring up the Valakians. I KNEW IT!
Poor Sim.

Re: Star Trek (Ent): Impulse
It strikes me that if this was season 1 or 2 T'Pol the trellium poisoning probably would have managed to get her baps out at some point so at least we have been spared that.
ENT was definitely on the right course with season 3 it was just a bit too late. STD parallels perhaps.

Re: Star Trek (Ent): Impulse
Wasn't Spock's cover when the Klingons arrived in "Errand of Mercy" that he was a Vulcan trader in trillium? Is that really a good job for a Vulcan to have?
Re: Star Trek (Ent): Impulse
If Star Trek has one flaw, it's the constant abandonment of basic common sense in the service of drama. They consistently enter dangerous situations without even considering there may be dangerous environmental issues.

Masterful bad-lip-reading! Now if there had just been a Phlox-smile in there too...

Good review I've one of the few Star Trek episodes that I could watch around halloween.
Didn't get the sushi joke?
A little confused by the conclusion. Mainly because I'm not sure exactly what Chuck was imagining would have given this more substance. I can't think of many other Star Trek episode that good for pure horror, so I'm also wonder what (if anything) would qualify as a "classic" from this franchise. Yes the best horror stories are more than good scares and atmosphere so I would agree this episode was just good without being great, but I'm not sure how much you more you have done with this particular premise and having to work with these characters.
