Thus you care more about ripping apart whatever comes along and give no attention to its part in worldbuilding.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 12:38 am More like the films are back, and are being marketed to normies, who are less hardcore nerds than we are. Also the same with Star Trek, which is on the small screen, but true to the "visually engaging" aspects but has the "less intellectually engaging" aspects the studio suits think it should be about.

Re: Star Wars Abandons World-Building
Well, it is building a new timeline, I can concede that, and like Legends, it's tied to the six movies, but that's all I'll yield on. I do think what they said about Legends is lies, and I'll always keep saying that.

Yes I think we'll agree on there not being much in the way of the movies doing worldbuilding for SW.

Depends where it is in canon and how big of an investment it was.

That it's always been relegated to novels, guidebooks and other works that are disposable the second that any new film or TV project is made. For example the prequels were completely incompatible with the Clone Wars implied by the Thrawn trilogy where clones could be battle ready in a day and were implied to be the enemies of the Republic.Slash Gallagher wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 7:14 pmCare to elaborate?Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 2:32 pm Star Wars has always had super thin world building anywhere that actually matters.

Ultimate proof that Lucas didn't care, but the novels just worked with the changing timeline.
