I don't know. Slash is usually out of his wit, but this one time he's coming off crystal clear and clean as a whistle here.

If someone kills my grandma in front of me...Yukaphile wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:05 pm When a potential rape victim is being socially pressured to take the burden of responsibility for the actions of her attacker(s) onto herself, even when "being given a voice," or getting ostracized as a monster while people sympathize with him or them as "a victim(s)" too, you know there's something fucked up with society - that or there's a really high number of heartless people out there. Whichever you feel is more plausible! Both are probably equally valid.
Same thing, innocent untill the guilt is proven.

You don't seem to understand due process at all, and I guess you don't find it all that fucked up that someone could be falsely accused and made out to be a monster for the rest of their life even after the court found them not guilty.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:05 pm When a potential rape victim is being socially pressured to take the burden of responsibility for the actions of her attacker(s) onto herself, even when "being given a voice," or getting ostracized as a monster while people sympathize with him or them as "a victim(s)" too, you know there's something fucked up with society - that or there's a really high number of heartless people out there. In this scenario, I think Yuka assumes a guilty rapist.Admiral X wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:33 pmYou don't seem to understand due process at all, and I guess you don't find it all that fucked up that someone could be falsely accused and made out to be a monster for the rest of their life even after the court found them not guilty.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:05 pm When a potential rape victim is being socially pressured to take the burden of responsibility for the actions of her attacker(s) onto herself, even when "being given a voice," or getting ostracized as a monster while people sympathize with him or them as "a victim(s)" too, you know there's something fucked up with society - that or there's a really high number of heartless people out there. Well, sure, but he's talking specifically or particularly about situations where people sympathize with the perpetrator and lambast against the victim. It's a distinct circumstance is all.

Because people want to ruin famous people's lives just because they were acccused...BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:56 pmWell, sure, but he's talking specifically or particularly about situations where people sympathize with the perpetrator and lambast against the victim. Well you're forgetting about a little thing called due process.Slash Gallagher wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 8:12 pmBecause people want to ruin famous people's lives just because they were acccused...BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 7:56 pmWell, sure, but he's talking specifically or particularly about situations where people sympathize with the perpetrator and lambast against the victim. Really though that doesn't invalidate what Yuka is saying. Both what you and AdX are saying and what Yuka is saying are two different things.

Oh I understand due process entirely. And I think it's a great cornerstone of a free society. I'm not even talking about accusations. Those can at least go to court in today's world. I'm talking about people looking back on sins of the past and just... completely missing the point. I've seen this attitude, and it's nasty. It's what rape culture and patriarchy means to me, even a film that's meant to give "both victims," ie rapist and rape victim a voice, is still part of that ingrained mindset, out of political correctness, guilt complex, and all those other factors. And, Slash? If you saw someone kill your grandmother in front of you, you'd know. Yet in today's bureaucracy, don't think the case could get thrown out if the defendant got a great, high-priced, slick-talking lawyer. What then?
Edit: BCM is right. Wasn't attacking due process.
